Description

Yzerman makes use of cap space to broker a draft day trade between San Jose and Edmonton.
San Jose rids itself of all but $2.5 million of Karlsson's contract, drops down from 4 to 9 in 2023 first round, and gets Philip Broberg, Edmonton's 2024 first round pick and 2023 second round, and Detroit's 2023 second pick.
Edmonton gets Karlsson at $4.5 million per year and removes Codi Ceci's $3.25 million contract, for two high level prospects, 2024 first and 2023 second draft picks.
Detroit takes on $4.5 million cap hit from Karlsson to move up to 4 from 9 in this year's draft and get RW Rafeal Lavoie

Edmonton needs more defense, not more offense. If they're going to spend all those assets they need more to show for it than a guy who will just take offensive opportunities away from Bouchard.

SJS needs those high picks and would want more coming back since they’d be paying karlsson so much for 4 more years. as good as karlsson is, man that contract was a mistake

Yeah retaining 18 million dollars over 4 years is worth WAY more than moving up 5 spots. Yzerman dies laughing.
