Here's the problem with offer sheets. Why would Swayman sign to go from the best team in the league last year to the 21st best team in the league. It's quite well known that Swayman and Ullmark have an excellent relationship so it's quite unlikely he would do it to simply have a starting job as he will definitely get that in the long run playing with the Bruins

I like the team, not sold on Berggren yet on top line though, but if he performed that three top lines are dangerous.

Bruins match and move Ullmark to make space if they have to. 0% chance they allow themselves to lose Swayman for one 2nd, would be terrible asset management.

They don't need luck. They'd match that in a nano second and ship out Ullmark.

I guess the question would be does Swayman even sign that contract with Ottawa, or does he sign two years with Boston at let's say 3.5m. Swayman might get other offer sheets from other teams.
But I certainly like the idea of an offer sheet.

Shipping out Ullmark isn't as easy as you think. His M NTC eliminates a lot of teams who have cap to sign him.

It's not as hard as other people think. Just because a player has a team on his NTC, it doesn't mean they can't traded there. It just means the player has to give their approval first.

Absolute worse case they just have crap depth and keep both Ullmark & Swayman. They'd just need to win a lot of 1 goal games

True, but what is Ullmark's motivation to leave a President's Cup team? Virtually all good teams that he might want to be traded how their goalies or lack cap.

It's not going to be the same team it was last year. They roster isn't going to be nearly as deep. They'll still likely be a playoff team, but far from the favorites they were this year. Now I can't speak for Ullmark but there's an opportunity to prove that he wasn't just a product of playing in front of Boston. He's likely not the future of Boston (that's Swayman) so he's going to see a best a 50/50 split of time. That's not going to help him in his next contract.

The motivation is that they could lose up to four great players at minimum (Bergeron, Krejci, Bertuzzi, Orlov).
