What makes you think CHI would pay that?

Hawks obviously decline. They are not spending a 1st, 2nd and 3rd on a pair of bottom 6 forwards. I doubt Kings would even get the 3rd from the Hawks for those two.

Fiala on LTIR?

Jets would obviously take that, cant see them getting that much though. I know he's a minor piece but I like Grunstrom's game, would like it if the Jets could get him, our bottom six could really use a player like him.

As a Kings fan, I would do none of those trades. Except the Chicago one (obviously), which is equally insane in the other direction.

Why are you giving $5.5M to Scott Mayfield. He's maybe worth $3.5M, and that's if someone really likes him.

By replacing half the roster?

Kings will pass on the Jets, Ducks and Bruins deals. Don’t think Chicago takes that.

This is a lot less deep team than the current Kings with bad goaltending, that needs Fiala on LTIR for whatever reason to even work. 20 man rosters don’t work.

Edited Jun. 18, 2023 at 9:58 p.m.. Reason: added explanatory phrase
What an atrocity.

We start the summer with 16 forwards under team control and you trade for four new ones, three of whom are utterly unnecessary. The completely unprovoked and pointless Anaheim trade is particularly egregious -- Max Comtois is a #3 LW at best, and there is talk that the Ducks won't even offer him his Qualifying Offer, so trading for him and then paying him $3.6 million is hideous, while Pavol Regenda hasn't proven he's an NHLer yet, but you trade a top-6 forward and our best defensive defenseman for them? That's troll-level awful. But it's not even close to the Chicago trade, which rightfully has the Black Hawk fans up in arms -- Blake Lizotte isn't worth a first and it's questionable whether Jaret Anderson-Dolan is worth a third. And there's no particular reason to exchange Lizotte for Trent Frederic.

We're not trading Quinton Byfield and Lias Andersson isn't an NHLer.

The resulting team you have here is much worse than the team we have in real life despite the fact that you've added Pierre-Luc Dubois: acquiring him but giving up 5 -- five, count 'em, FIVE -- starters (not to mention a first and a second) for him and a useless LhD plus 3 unnecessary forwards who aren't close to the players that they're replacing is dreadful asset management. And with all of that movement, you haven't even addressed our most serious problem right now -- goaltender.

I know that your Profile says that you're a Kings fan, but this ACGM suggests otherwise.

Well, to the Chicago Trade:

Anderson-Dolan, Jaret - a great all-around player that can get dirty, and is productive, he did not get lot's chances with Kings due to lot's excellent prospects in the lineup
Lizotte, Blake - is the most effective player on Kings roster last 2 years...

Great addition for Berard in the lineup to have similar players to learn from

those 2 easily could be better than what you have on the first line such as ANDREAS ATHANASIOU, who played for the Kings for the last 2 seasons

Plus you 2 1st rounders for BRANDON HAGEL, are very similar players, in my opinion, it's a good deal if you want to help Berard to acclimate a have identical players to be around him...

Chicago needs to start somewhere, to get better...so many draft picks are not going to do it...look at Arizona, Edmonton, Toronto....15 years, and still building...

Also how do you not have any kind of goalie and call this a contender. I don't know if either of these guys is even good enough to back up Hellebuyck. This is not a tandem.

Well, do you think a 6 mil goaltender will make it for LA, you need hard-nosed players to have success in the playoff, I have been watching the Kings for about 27 years...yaeh some time you have big choices, and Kopitar is not getting younger...

Thanks for your very interesting take. Comparing JAD and Lizotte to Hagel is quite a reach though. Hagel is a legit top 6 NHL winger. Lizotte is not, and I doubt JAD ever comes close to what Hagel is. As for the Hawks top 6 to play w/ Bedard, Hawks have Reichel, Raddysh and Kurashev, all of whom I'd play w/ Bedard over either JAD or Lizotte. Chicago's plan is to build thru the draft, not load up on more bottom 6 NHL forwards. This trade is far too one sided to even consider.

I would rather pay one-fifth of those assets for Linus Ullmark than destroy the team we have for Dubois. Look at the changes you've made: Comtois for Iafallo. Andersson for Moore. Frederic, a wing, for the cheaper and more productive Lizotte, a center. Even Regenda for Grundstrom is no improvement. Plus, you have a 21-man roster only because you've illegally put Kevin Fiala on the LTIR list, from which he will return and then we'll be millions over the cap. And Erik Portillo has yet to play a minute of professional hockey, so I'm not putting him out there for 25 or 30 games this season.

We took some good strides forward even though it may not seem so because we still lost to Edmonton in the first round again. Kopi was still among the team leaders in productivity this season despite his advancing age -- sufficiently so that I'm not sure he's going to retire when his current contract expires. And the fact that you have so many of our players out of place in your lineup, including Fiala on LTIR, makes me wonder just how many of our games you see.

I'm sorry to be so harsh. But as someone who has followed the Kings since moving here in 1985, I'm defensive about tearing it apart even in an imaginary medium.

hey, for what it's worth, this is my fantasy, there has to be change (small or bigger) in order to be competitive against other evolving teams in the western conference, I agree trading half of the team is not a way to go either, and it's harder and harder with the cap space getting smaller as younger players evolve.... we need to get litlle bit bigger and harder to play against...that's my take...that's all...I like LA team, it just needs some right adjustments...
