Post Yzerman Press Conference

Created by: TMarch
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2023
Published: Jun. 20, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let's take Steve at face value with what he said today.

DET still needs to add on salary to hit the cap floor (~6.1M), so signing players isn't out of the question, nor is trading for contracts (especially if they are taking on salary and being paid with picks). Tried to keep Steve at his word though with my moves.

Also, expect a major overhaul of GR next year. With Watson in, and Simon gone, I suspect Cossa will be his starting G, and a lot of kids will be paying (Simon played more vets and AHL only contracts than kids last year, but GR was pretty bad).

Could not pass harder on Bunting. I wouldn't even want him for league min.

Be prepared, Detroit.

It’s called a “MackBlack Heart Attack”

It’s actually good for (lottery) wins

No to bunting, the rest seams reasonable based on what he said. Don't see any real moves via trade,. meaning significant ones.

Blackwood jokes aside, I do enjoy these post that outline what other GMs are saying. Wish we saw more of them.

Probably better off trying to sign Blackwood if he goes unqualified for 2M or so.

I could see Bunting (or Barbashev) being signed in the 5-5.25M range based on the comments. Addison would be a smart pick up.

Step 2 is harness the draft luck of the Oilers of the 2010s.

I agree with you, I usually watch most teams pressers to get a feel of what they are thinking. Outlining them here for the fans who don't is awesome. Keep up doing them for the devils. Top 4 team to make the biggest strides next season per a bunch of the top guys in the business. I think of devs can fix their goalie issues they will be scary good

A lot of fans willing to speak on behalf of their GM….not many actually listen to what they are saying.

I try to read, watch or listen to every Fitzy interview. He repeats himself often. Tells you what he is going to do. Then does it. Pretty simple.

I listened to his exit interview and so far he has done exactly what he said with Bratt and now Timo time is being worked on

I dont think him saying he plans to make both the first round picks rules them out of getting debrincat if that was your logic

I think you’re right. All that I concluded for certain was he won’t trade 9oa for Debrincat and that it won’t be his mo to trade many picks or to sign many long term deals. Doesn’t 100% rule it out though
