No thanks. We don't really need more smallish wingers, we have enough of them in the organization right now.

Detroit has literally been linked to DeBrincat who’s smaller than Garland. Stop with this narrative of size for no reason

You have been shopping Garland for the better part of a year with no takers. Your own beat reporters plus plenty of insiders have said that no one wants Garland without a significant sweetener. So then you buy another player out and presto! suddenly Garlands worth a 2nd.

There's a big difference in DeBrincat and Garland, DeBrincat is a hometown kid that has 2 41 goal seasons under his belt. Garland is meh and considerably overpaid.

FYI Allvin is basically giving away Garland for FC, And no GM is touching him. Without massive sweeteners attached to him. No team is touching him.

I don't mind garland or hoglamder I just don't know where we play them since we're loaded with players and young guys who need ice time

1 Elite small player > 2 Middle-6 small players. I would rather have that one elite small player and fill the 3rd-4th line with some bigger players that are suited better for that role. Size is not the only thing, but look at the rosters that have had the most success: Tampa, Vegas, Blues in 2019, Caps in 2018 those are some big teams that are hard to play against.

"Stop with the narrative of size of no reason" Let's change the perspective here: Canucks replaces Soucy with Torey Krug and Tyler Myers with Adam Boqvist. Are you confident in a defensive core where everyone is 6'0" or under? Detroit needs bigger players up front and that's a fact.

True, but being good does. And to be honest neither is really worth a 2nd round pick

You also seem to be forgetting that DeBrincat has always played with better linemates, whereas Garland has never had that luxury in either Arizona or Vancouver. I’m not saying Garland would likely score 40 goals with better linemates, but he’s the guy that’s in the corners and in front of the net battling - he has that bite to his game. Get him better linemates and he likely hits 30 and the gap isn’t as big between him and DeBrincat as you think and Garland brings more to the table than DeBrincat does.

Idiot! Acquiring Yamamoto wasn't the main piece Yzerman was targeting - in a Interview Yzerman said that he likes Kostin's size and tenacity and he could get a bigger role in Detroit. I won't be surprised if Yamato gets flipped in another trade since Yzerman also said that he isn't sure about Yamamoto's future yet.

Also. We didn't give up any assets in the trade. And Yamamoto has a cheaper contract and RFA status.
