McLeod is more a waiver claim candidate then a tradeable asset. Especially not a high third round pick. McLeod is not a upgrade over any current players on Habs roster that have to many NHl contract already.

Yes really. Joel Armia had 3 more goal in 37 less game. Same point per game ratio. Armia had already showned that he can put better number. So unless you have something that i didn’t caught my attention. McLeod is not a upgrade over any current players. Waivers candidate, there literally 100 of players like him. We already have Jake Evans that fulfilled is 4th line duty extremely well. Habs wouldn’t even claim him of the waiver due to their contract situation so clearly NJ win’t get a 69th pick in the draft for him.

Devils would have to overpay by a lot since they’re in division, he’s cap friendly, Kakko is their only RW and he’s a former 2nd overall

He’s also on a 1 year deal with an Expected pay day ahead of him, on a team that needs every dollar to try and piece together a top 6 with about 5 million dollars as it currently stands (depending on K’Andres extension) just for next season. Plus needing to fill out the rest of the roster

all 31 teams (regardless of where they’re located) know this, and it’s going to result in less than stellar value, if NYR chooses something like this, over paying to dump cap

All 31 teams would beat that Devils offer of useless picks and an AHL defenseman

Tell me you’ve never watched McLeod or the Devils play without telling me you’ve never watched McLeod or the Devils play. McLeod has blazing speed, strong on the puck, physical in the corners, 3rd in FO %, an excellent PKer, and a good energy guy for the locker room. Devs are gonna sign him to a multi year deal; he’s very important to our team

I am a Habs fan and think Devils should keep him, especially in a cap friendly scenario like this where the Devils have lots of cap space and have amassed a lot of picks and prospects over recent years, I don,t know what an extra 3rd would get them

Drury laughs and says thanks for the silly trade offer but no thanks. He then offers you Libor Hajek for Mercer straight up.

And that’s fine. I’m just saying they’re all going to likely be considered lowball offers given the cap situation NYR is in right now

I mean, your roster either regresses with this trade or without. Doesn’t really matter in jersey

It’s just funny how devil fans have been calling Kakko a bust and here we are trading for him

But they’ll be fine and have no trouble re-signing Kakko after next year lol

I never thought he was a bust tbf. I’m actually very high on him, and in a vaccum, or just with NY in a slightly better cap situation, I would absolutely give up more. Him and Jack Hughes (ironically) could be a dominant pair on a line.

Just can’t justify it here when those assets are going to be used to get out of the Goodrow contract, and get through this year before the cap increases

Okay? Not really seeing a point being made there other than you don’t like New Jersey lol
Like I said above, I value KK in a vacuum much higher than this
