If I were Tre, I’d accept the Leafs trade. A lot to give up but Toffoli with 50% retention is prob worth it

I would do this for the Pens, but I know Dubas has said he isn't trading the 1st unless it is for a young cost controlled proven NHL'er. Those are two pieces to make a really solid 3rd line for the same cap hit as Granlund.

Detroit passes, Yzerman won't give up assets for a short term fix at backup.

And Mineesota can't afford for what Elias Lindholm will cost long term. Like 8 x $8,500,000.

PIT doesn't need two 3Cs though.

Dube is a winger and Backlund is a center. Who is the other 3rd line center?

He's listed as a center and took ~300 faceoffs in the last two years. Can he play both?

That’s palatable for the Blues if they can move Krug somehow. I think the appeal with the Philly trade was repurposing the cap spent on Krug to a defenseman like Sanheim that doesn’t need to be sheltered as much. I know for next season it would work. But following that and talking extension would be very hard unless Krug were moved out.

He's primarily a winger. He jumps in on faceoffs or fills in at center when they are desperate. In that same two year span 6 Calgary forwards took more faceoffs. Dube isn't a real center.

I'm not sure. I like Toffoli for sure, but I think the Leafs are going to be pretty hesitant to deal that first rounder considering they don't have much draft capital outside of it. I don't think the value is completely off, but I'm just not sure Toffoli is a slam dunk fit for the Leafs. He's got a great shot, but the Leafs have two high calibre, high volume shooters in Matthews and Nylander. Tavares handles net stuff on the powerplay. I'm just not sure his skill set fits in for the Leafs. Lindholm is a much better fit for Toronto

That proposal is obnoxiously bad for Minnesota. Find someone else to bend over.
