I didn't mean goalies, but overall the fanbase has been pretty doom and gloom lately. I was in Montreal last weekend though for the first time and it can't be all that bad... great place.

Yeah they dont value goalies that high. Askarov and 15th were on the table but their scouting staff very much wanted Reinbacher whom is exactly the type of player that would put Buffalo over the top. Definitely jealous of the Buffalo elite talent tho you can have chez paree in exchange all day.

Montreal is well behind them but Mtl isnt down that bad as their bad money is coming off the books and they didnt do anything really dumb like spend assets and cap on PLD like the Kings. They are probably best to wait out this Sabres juggernaut and try to compete in maybe 3-5 years. Half the league is about timing. The Leafs had they been in another division, i hate to say maybe go to a Final.

No I was there the week after. On the 25th I left. Amazing city in general, but Chez Paree is a game changer... My buddies and I (all born and raised in Buffalo) kept looking slack jawed and saying something along the lines of "It doesn't even make sense". Conservatively, at least 6 to 10 first overall caliber players were in the building that night.

I respect the habs a lot but they're in for a rough 2-3 seasons at least. I'd bottom out as much as possible.

Basu already said they have no interest in Carter Hart so not trading for Askarov makes some sense, I guess. There's no chance they give up any assets for Levi, they already have to decide on Primeau, whos virtually the same guy with same history at the same age. A goalie deal aint happening. Monty is the perfect transition option and he wants to sign an extension in Montreal



Sadly, the fans in Montreal have no patience and already want Hughes head for the Reinbacher pick. It was a cool 2 years when everyone was on the same page rebuilding but this fan base is becoming unbearable again!

I would've taken Michkov personally for that reason. Patience was a big part of his fall though not all. I understand the frustration from the fanbase there.
