Quite expensive for a bad 3rd liner, likely gonna slot into 4C. 1 year would be fine, but 2 years for a 34 YO that with these stats aren't worth 2.4 Million

We needed a 3C bad. Don't hate this if he can stay healthy and anchor a line that doesn't get shat on in the playoffs

I'd like much more to bring Toews in a 1-year deal for something like 3.0M/3.5M than bring this declining player. Specially for 2 years. This is the worst signing by Dubas by far. I really hope Eller prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

Lol no the Jarry deal is demonstrably worse. This is a low risk, lost cost move. We need a 3C who can win FOs and not get shoved around. He has experience, has won a Cup, and should be a good presence in the locker room. He's coming from great teams.

Need to relax on the hate bro.

First of all, I'm not a hater. Not even close to be one. Eller played pretty bad last three seasons. Just ask for any Caps/Colorado fan. Second, Toews is now a 3rd line C which is one of the best in FOs and he's MUCH BETTER than Eller in both sides of the ice. I'm relaxed. I watch sports just to have some fun. But I'm being realistic here. Anyway, I'm still wanting to be wrong about this one.

As for the Jarry contract, If he can stay healthy, then can be turned into a very good contract. But if he keeps getting hurt, then will be a disaster indeed. 3 years at most in term will be ok. But 5 years for an injury prone player doesn't make any sense. Even for a 28 player. We'll see...

Hey I was def not arguin for Toews being better than eller, nobody knows what he will do. I had a dream scenario yesterday that we signed him kane and oreilly and our 4th line had 2 conn smythes and our lineup had 6 altogether.

If Eller had sucked the past 3 years... great. You'd think Dubas would know that. I stand by the fact that he's better than Carter but hey that isn't sayin much!

If he's washed than so be it I haven't watched him at all. I feel like he's better than Carter and he can bring other things to the team. But yea as far as him being good at hockey I feel the same way about Granlund, give them an offseason and some time to acclimate to Sullivan's systems.

Eller is not that bad compared to the third and fourth lines the Penguins have trotted out and see fail in recent seasons.

I mean, he's always been a defensive guy, and that's what we need, to strengthen the defensive zone play. I can't tell you how many times teams have come back on us in the last couple of years... It's almost like they know they can get however many they want if they try hard enough.

Vs the Rangers 2 years ago we were up in every elimination game but lost all of them. Last year, we lost a ton of games in OT and later in the 3rd because we couldn't hold leads.

If Eller can help tighten the d zone up I don't care if he goes pointless in all 82 if we make the playoffs and he is good in his own end.
