Trades
1.
DET
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (SEA)
  2. 2026 5th round pick (SEA)
SEA
  1. Määttä, Olli
Additional Details:
Red Wings decide to deal Maatta at deadline, since Johansson and especially Edvinsson have faired well in the NHL this season.

Likely a contender who could use a little help on d, due to lack of depth or an injury, or just looking for extra depth in general. Choose Seattle here.
2.
DET
  1. 2024 1st round pick (NJD)
  2. 2025 1st round pick (NJD)
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (NJD)
NJD
  1. Rasmussen, Michael [RFA Rights]
  2. 2025 5th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Wings move Rassmussen at deadline for a haul- Similar to Tanner Jeannot. They retain half his contract, and trade him to a contender for two firsts and a 2nd. Far better player to Jeannot and similar situation- as he will be an RFA in the offseason. Red wings are not rebuilding, but taking advantage of smart asset Management.
3.
ARI
  1. Buium, Shai [Reserve List]
  2. Fabbri, Robby
  3. 2024 1st round pick (BOS)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (DET)
  5. 2025 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
During next season, Clayton Keller requests a trade. It gets fulfilled in the offseason.

With the conditions on the pick sent to OTT for DeBrincat, I expect ott gets the Red Wings pick which I think falls between 14-18, and I think Boston will finish worse than Detroit, so the pick Arizona gets here will be around 12tg Overall.

Arizona still gets a haul, which includes a 12th overall pick, but they have to prefer to get a deal in before his NTC kicks in July 1st, which drives down value.
4.
DET
CGY
  1. 2024 4th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
After Moving rasumussen, red wings move 4th rounder for forward depth at deadline.

Fitzgerald is one of the best GMs in the league

He's not paying 2 firsts for a bust

Rasmussen having nearly the same value of Keller is hilarious

(edit) And delusional

Roy doesn’t leave Los Angeles unless someone’s willing to rip open the purse strings for him, which definitely isn’t the case here.

Yeah Keller isn’t available, and isn’t requesting out. If he did, they’re getting far better than that

The bust word gets thrown around much too easily. Can we call Holtz a bust already? I wouldn't, but just trying to compare. Rasmussen has carved out a role as a middle six NHLer. He took a bit of time to develop (not surprising given his size, etc.) but is continuously improving. I sure don't look to move him. I don't think NJD does a trade like this either. But even if so, those firsts are both 25 oa or later. Back to calling Ras a bust though, that's absurd. We reached on the pick and got a very decent NHL player. You can't expect every first rounder to be a top line player, especially those selected outside the top 5. NHL GMs themselves call it a crapshoot. Ras was 9th OA if I remember correctly. Not a bust. Not saying you can't do better either at that spot

Please explain how Rasmussen is worth two first round picks and a 2nd with a massive career best 29pt season when DeBrincat went to Ottawa for a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd after a 78 point (41G) season.... tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy

I don't think he is saying Rasmussen is worth that, just that he's not a bust. And in his description he likens the trade to the overpay for Jeannott, whom Tampa acquired because he provided something they wanted and they clearly see more from him in the future. Question that needs answering is whether NJ might see something they want enough from Rasmussen come playoffs to make such a trade. (?) It's clear, you do not!

I actually like Rasmussen a fair bit and agree that he's a better NHLer than Jeannot.
But Jeannot got traded for a stupidly unprecedented overpayment that hoping to replicate that is kinda delusional, I don't see any GM having interest in doing the same type of trade as Brisebois did last TDL.
Some team might be happy to give a 1st for Rasmussen but I don't see 2 1sts and more for him, Jeannot did come off a 24 goal season rocking a six figure contract.
Devils aren't a great fit either as their forward corps is completely stacked. They're gonna have trouble finding a spot for Holtz and that's before adding Rasmussen.

Also, that suggested Keller trade is downright hilarious. A handful of teams should be willing to comfortably beat that offer.
Like, why wouldn't the Devils just move all those picks for Keller instead of Rasmussen?

Wasn’t necessarily saying it will be New Jersey, just an example of a team that might make a move like that.
