1.
CBJ
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (VAN)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
team doesnt matter much
VAN
  1. Peeke, Andrew
Additional Details:
CBJ would be smart to trade Peeke before Boqvist imo.
2.
CBJ
  1. 2025 5th round pick (PHI)
3.
CBJ
  1. Commesso, Drew
Additional Details:
prospect swap
CHI
  1. Malatesta, James
Additional Details:
CBJ gets a good goalie prospect, Chicago gets a good winger prospect who had a fantastic year and reminds me of a Stankoven - lite. Commesso was the higher pick but Malatesta just had a better year with the ramperts, so i think it evens out.

CBJ doesnt have a promising goalie behind Elvis or Tarasov besides Ivanov and i think he could still be a long shot. I dont want to lose Malatesta. Wings are our strength and even though I think Malatesta plays a bit of a different type of game than our other winger prospects, i still think the org would be much more rounded out with a prospect like Commesso.

CHI fans might flame me for trading for Commesso but I think them taking Gajan so early in a loaded draft could signal that they arent super high on Commesso.
4.
CBJ
  1. 2024 6th round pick (SEA)
SEA
  1. Robinson, Eric

fair assessments. robinson could be an interesting target for the caps but we have forward depth so we'd probably hold off on that

Hawks are keeping Commesso. Gajan won't be considered for an AHL job for another 3 years and then I'm guessing 2 more in Rockford. So in the 6th year he'll be looking for a backup role...IF it all goes well.

You’re really underselling Gajan’s trajectory and ceiling. Commesso is not a can’t miss goalie prospect either. His college career was less than spectacular.

I hope you're right. I don't want to bash any of our prospects at all. I hope he becomes the next Roy. Just trying to be realistic though. It's not like Gajan wasn't available for all 7 rounds last year and 225 picks later he was still undrated. He was also Slovakia's 3rd string goalie entering the WJC. Yes, we gotta give credit where it's due. He played great in those 4 games. Stood on his head. Also played well in Greenbay/Chippewa. Also supposedly Super Athletic for a goalie. I just need to see a few more years at Minn Duluth before I crown him. Right now he's got 1 year under his belt.

For better of worse Commesso has A TON more experience. I also think you're putting a slant on Commesso's time at BU when you say "his college career was less than spectacular". I guess it's technically accurate. He didn't win the Richter if that's your bar of success. He was fine. Drew will get a few years in Rockford just like Gajan should. He's just 20 years old (21 in a few days). Gajan is 19. Let's keep our 2 best goalies prospects and not rely on either of them alone.

You might be a little too eager, as well, though. A lot of the best goalies don't even get into the NHL until they are around 23 years old. Three years in college and one or two in the AHL is pretty reasonable. I could see maybe shaving off a year. But with Davidson's commitment to development, I don't see him rushing anyone, especially not a goalie. Commesso had a pretty good College career, though. I certainly watched a few AWFUL games from him. But even the best goalies have AWFUL games sometimes. The important thing is that the tools, focus, and the compete are there. Consistency will likely take some time at the pro level, unless the goalie development team for CHI takes his game to a whole new level very quickly.

That being said, I think Commesso and Gajan definitely have the potential to be starters. Neither are "can't miss" prospects, though. I honestly don't consider anyone a "can't miss" ever, even Bedard. Although, the odds of some players turning out to be a turd are insanely low, they are never zero. There have been big upsets all throughout the history of the NHL.

Goalies take longer to develop than other players. It does not seem to be a sound move to put all of the eggs in the Gaian basket right now. Commesso could pan out still or he could be a dud. However we still need players in net until Gaian is ready which conceivably could be 5 years from now. Commesso is farther along , so unless we want to keep picking over the free agent bin until Gaian is ready (ever?), we should at least give him a chance before dismissing him.
