I could see a 1 year deal in place. Not saying he's going to get it, but it's not like the organization has treated his development they way they should have.

I auction off lafreniere to the highest bidder and for a special prize throw in goodrow for good measure. I wonder where trouba waives too, seattle/detroit/Arizona? Have plenty of interesting decisions ahead, rather praying that cap goes up

Reports are that the AAV is gonna come in a bit higher at around 2.5-2.75m.

Highest bidder for Laffy is probably a bottom 5 team and likely on goodrow’s no trade list

Lol Trouba ain’t waiving for any team. He forced his way to NY and he isn’t leaving

1 year deal would be a mistake given Lindgren, Kakko and Schneider all need new deals next year as well

Interesting squad, kind of has two distinct nucleus’s and has to be getting a little scary that older group gets too old before the younger group is good enough to pull there weight

You're looking at it from the team point of view which I understand. I'm looking at it from the player point of view because the organization really hasn't been good to him.

Yea but also Laffy has 0 leverage. He might as well take 2x$2.5m and earn his huge pay raise

Based on K'Andre's deal yesterday, it looks like Laffy will get a two year deal. I agree with all your points about why a 1 year deal is a bad idea!

Based on K'Andre's deal yesterday, the numbers you indicate seem like the target range for Laffy!!

This is the perfect situation for an offer sheet to be honest.

I think that's a realistic deal. With the year he had, I doubt it's much more than what Kakko got. I'm thinking anywhere between 2.1M-2.3M is realistic, maybe as high as 2.5M.

2 years is almost a guarantee at this point. Gives them space to renew Kakko and Schneider next year, as we're likely to see a significant rise in the cap. If Laf impresses, it's very possible both Trouba and Goodrow iare traded to make room for him, as well as Miller and Igors new deals.

That's highly unlikely, and even still I doubt a team would be willing offer more than the Rangers will be able to match.

they could do what CAR did and sign him for 1 season at 4 mill and then a long term deal later. NHL is not exciting enough to do it but we can dream.

I mean the Hurricanes might take Laffy... They have a history of redeveloping talent from other teams

Carolina has $2.5m cap right now. Doesn’t seem like they’ll have much cap after they get Deangelo or Karlsson

It will probably be closer to 3M and they just run a 22 man roster

They are going to move out either Pesce or Skjei to free up cap

Well Karlsson’s cap is huge even at 50%
