I don’t get why erik would wanna go to Pitts he already went to a team that was aging out why would he want that again thought he wanted to win at that point he might as well stay in san Jose

i like this, buuuut i see SJS getting a 1st in the karlson trade. Rob Rossi had a write up today that the first might be protected. the stephenson trade might need better picks

The Kraken still have Vince Dunn to sign at RFA and he's probably getting a massive raise, so I don't know if Seattle would be interested in bailing out the Penguins with Granlund tbh.

Feel like the return on that EK trade is too low for SJ, especially for close to 50% retention. They will probably manage to get a first from another team

I also don't think Vegas would be too keen on giving up a 60+ pt scoring center making only 2.75M for that return. Thompson and Hill + Patera are just fine.

I can't see Seattle having any interest whatsoever in trading for Granlund. They don't have the roster or cap flexibility to add someone making $5M for the next two years who's basically a lesser version of Alex Wennberg. I should also add that the Kraken signed Carrick as AHL depth; if Pittsburgh is starting him as their regular third pairing RHD, there's a serious problem with their defense.

Dallas having Petry and Suter on the back end would be ugly

That Stephenson trade is insanely bad for VGK.

think everyone says no here, but your overall idea of sending off Petry to a team he would say yes to is good, and I think it is necessary to facilitate a Karlsson trade to PIT because Petry most likely says no to SJ
You need to pay SEA to take Granlund
Does DAL even need a RD?
I don't see Vegas trading Stephenson, and if they did they are getting more than that for him
SJ definitely is getting a 1st round pick in any Karlsson trade unless it's replaced with a dynamite prospect that no team would want to trade anyway

SJ isn't winning anything for a long time. Not that I necessarily see the penguins getting another cup under sid/malkin/letang, the chances are far better in Pittsburgh for Karlsson than SJ.

I like the concept here, i think you could maybe get that dallas deal to work, but imagine you either need to retain a bit on petry, or ad a higher draft pick.

Seattle says no, they have a ton of center options.

Vegas also says no, that's a bad deal for them.

Also not enough at all in the EK deal with that much retention. You can't not use a 1st there lol

He lost to Sid and co. in the ECF the one time he made it there with Ottawa and may feel he has the ability to get them back to that spot. Plus he's said he would love to play with Sid on multiple occasions.

Ya I guess but he’s already made this same gamble before and it didn’t work if I’m Erik if it comes down to pitts or canes I’m pushing canes pretty hard actually I’d probably not waive unless it was the canes

Penguins aren't a top team but please don't put them on the same level as San Jose lol.

The Pens with Karlsson are still a wild card team and as we saw this year anything can happen in the playoffs. Maybe he's friends with some Pens players, maybe there's bad blood with him and Burns. Who knows. I'd pick CAR if I was him though

Plus I definitely think that him and Burns had issues when they were together idk what it was (maybe willingness to let EK have PP1 time) who knows though.

But on that front Tanger has already said he would be willing to give up quarterbacking PP1 if Karlsson was brought in.

I think he's said he prefers Pittsburgh (granted believe whatever rumor channel one wants) probably to have a chance to play with those three, and feels his odds improve with a core like that regardless of their age.

I mean don't get me wrong, as a penguins fan I even think Carolina would probably yield a better chance at a cup but maybe Karlsson views it differently with the leadership in pittsburgh.

Either way, I don't think he gets moved this summer personally.

I think I agree but I hope I'm wrong. SJ is really taking a gamble though bc his value likely will never be higher than it is right now. I mean the trades that were reported were fair idk what SJ is expecting but as much as I'd like to see EK65 with the Pens I don't want Dubas to cave just to make it happen. They probably figure they'll be able to get more at the trade deadline but really I don't see them getting much more than what we've already offered in any best case scenario for them. You aren't just trading him you're trading that contract too.

Have you seen any actually offers from Canes or Pens? Cause i haven't just speculation.

The sharks have a lot to gamble with. They hold him and he could get injured, regress back to his avg or start off the year cold and in any of those situations his value drops.

Of course you like it lol It's the worst one I've seen for SJ (other than the one that was EK65 with 3.5 retention for Rutta 1-for-1)

Letang is also somewhat competent defensively even if he is an offensive D-Man. Burns and Karlsson are both 4Fs playing defense.

True, I mean Burns literally started his NHL career as a winger
