Nylander isn't worth half that and the hawks wouldn't be interested in over paying him on his next deal.
Also why would Kane choose any Canadian team over teams like Vegas, Dallas, Colorado, Boston, tampa, carolina, jersey....

Patrick Kane isn't signing in Canada, And he sure as hell isn't signing for no $1,000,000 per either.

Nylander's value is debatable but you're right that the Hawks would have no need to trade for Willy. To your second point though, what does Toronto being a Canadian team have anything to do with it anymore? They're literally right across the lake from Chicago and an hour's flight from New York. They're also an hour drive away from his hometown, and would give Kane the opportunity to play with Matthews, who together are arguably the 2 best American players to play the game to this point.

They're in a better position than Dallas, Colorado, Boston or Tampa roster wise. The city has much more to offer than Jersey or Carolina. Could I see him signing in Vegas, Buffalo, or NYR? Sure, but no reason to think the Leafs are a non-starter because they're "Canadian". Where did he choose to play his junior hockey by the way?

He literally came to Canada to play in the OHL and grew up an hour's drive from Toronto, what does playing in Canada have to do with anything?

And yes, he's probably signing for league minimum because he'll be coming back midway through the season and looking to jump on board with a cup contender. Whether that's with Toronto or not we will see.

Too bad Jersey is most likely not wanting Kane.

?????? Why wouldn't the Leafs have the same chance of signing Kane as the other teams you mentioned? Gee, Kane is from Buffalo and played hockey in London, I can't imagine he is afraid of Canada.

2 late 1sts and a 2nd? Nylander is worth a great deal more than that.

Couple things. Least importantly, No they're not literally across the lake from Chicago. Whats Literally across Lake Michigan is actual Michigan. I'm not sure Kaner wants to enter that TOR environment. Not saying that if Matthews went out of his way to bring Kaner in...that it wouldn't help. I do think they see each other as elite players that want to win. It's just the whole $1M thing too...AND...I not so sure I agree with you that TOR is better off than ANY of BOS DAL TBL COL. In fact, they're not because 3 of the last 4 cups are within those teams. DAL went to the conference finals. BOS is a wild card. Gotta see what they do with the center position.

I don't think TOR actually would want Kaner though too. What Kaner provides is not what TOR is lacking.

Not trying to be mean here, but you could take Murray out of that deal and I still wouldn't pay that for Nylander. CHI is in no position to be being paying those kinds of assets for "win now" type players. If CHI has any interest in Nylander at all, which I doubt, they will just wait and see if he makes it to free agency next summer and see if he is even interested in playing for CHI who isn't likely to win any meaningful games for a few more years.

Ok sure, I think you understand my point though. If you're not sure Kaner would want to enter that environment than why guess? He's only played on two teams in his career, both of which are big market original 6 teams.

We can get into a debate about whether or not Toronto is better than those teams, but Tampa, Colorado and Boston have all taken major hits to their rosters recently. Colorado is still a wild card, but I think Tampa and Boston are exiting their windows. Dallas is fine but certainly no better than the Leafs.

Kane's goal will be to win a cup with whatever team he signs to; taking league minimum increases the likelihood of his team winning. If Toronto trades Nylander to upgrade their D, which I think they should, then that opens up the perfect opportunity to bring Kane in on Matthews wing.

Is it a guarantee? Of course not. I just don't see how it's any less likely than him signing with someone else.

Kane won't play in Canada as he has been vocal in the past about playing for an American team. He played in London for just one season, that's not a good argument. Furthermore, Kane is not what Toronto needs, nor are they in the best position to win a cup. They've won one playoff series in 7 straight playoff appearances, not exactly the place screaming cup winner.

Or maybe it's because Kane has been vocal in the past about the importance of playing for an American team being an American.

Or maybe it's because 7 straight playoff appearances and the Leafs have only mustered up 1 playoff series win.

Let's stick with objective facts instead of your subjective opinion.
