Description
After Bergeron announced his retirement, I thought about what direction the Bruins were heading. While I still think this is a win-now team and that’s the direction they should go in, I wanted to mix it up. The Bruins have very little draft capital. I wanted to help the Bruins develop their draft capital while trading their high-salary players for lower salary players of similar/slightly lower caliber and a draft pick. This is still a competitive roster, but it also allows the Bruins to be prepared for the future. I call this “competitive rebuilding”, which is essentially doing a modified rebuild while still having a competitive team. After having the best regular season in NHL history, the Bruins lost a lot of their roster (Bergeron, Orlov, Hall, Foligno, Hathaway, Bertuzzi, & Krejci assuming he retires). After these moves, a lot of the team is different than last years. Why not continue to mix things up while building for the future? NOTE: This is my first Armchair Manager. I tried to make everything realistic but I’m not sure if all of the trades/salaries are realistic.

The Isles would not trade Romanov 1:1 for Grzelck and definitely would not be adding.

Blues decline. We have no cap room for Coyle. Hayes fits us fine as a cheap 3C while we are not competing

What in that deal nets you Arizona’s 1st round pick? Debrusk had 5 more points than crouse and he’s hurt every year, why would Arizona even do it 1 for 1 when crouse is cost effective with term and debrusk is going to need a new contract?

Even though the Preds don't need another RHD, I'd take that deal before you changed your mind.

Why are the Blues throwing in an extra puck here for the more expensive / less productive player???
