He will turn 30 before it starts and 37 when it ends.

His playing style never ages well.

Years 6 and 7 will probably suck. Years 1-5? Great deal to fair deal. Especially with the cap going up.

wilson wasnt 30 coming off 2 big injury years when that contract started

He will be on LTIR for the last 5 years of that deal. Sucks for caps owners but it won’t matter cap wise

Hope he holds up better than Brendan Gallagher. I know they are different, but this contract screams Gallagher... and we regret it very badly.

This was my same thought immediately. Bergevin contract paying a player for what he has done and not what he's gonna do. They know he will likely spend the last couple years on LTIR but teams are seemingly more and more okay with that end game
