You won't find a Pens fan that isn't thrilled, sure feels like we won the trade

Somehow the Sharks found themselves with a pretty solid forward group going into the season.

Habs won. Hoffman for Petry is a wash. Pitlick for Légaré. So we get a second for taking on Desmith. Hell yeah

They objectively lost this trade, like even if everything goes wrong for sj and Pitt they still make out better than the habs did

Hoffman had less years then petry does and that d core in mtl is already bloated this just adds to that problem

It's a horrible deal for the Pens This year and maybe next you will see a benefit but after that 2 more years at $10M AVV and that is hopping that he plays the same as he did last season

Petry will be flipped half retained so no worry about the D core. So we. take on 2m for a second. Of course we won

I would agree that no one WON the deal but I think Montreal comes away with the best outcome overall and they added a prospect from Montreal (that's very important for them)

I think the trade was good for all involved honestly. sharks save $20 mil in cap and get a 1st among other flippable assets, habs get Petry and a pick, Pittsburgh sheds useless contracts and gets a star defenseman

At 2m, a lot of teams qulk be interested. Worst case scenario we keep him and let Barron in Laval. He could bounce back and get a decent return

Sharks lost this.

Three cap dumps, retained EK.. for a conditional pick.

Ig but again who would want him, barring long term injuries no teams are in a position to trade for him even at 2 mil. He has a few years left which is why teams would be hesitant

I saw him play 20 or so games. I think I have a good idea.

Also, if he's the 4th best winger, the Sharks got bigger problems than I thought.

BIG win for SJ is the low retention number. 6 mil total over 4 years. He can sell that to his owner.

Good trade for Pens and Habs too. Pens get the star player and clear some cap. Habs pick up some assets. I was surprised Petry waived for Habs. I thought his wife hated it there?

A team like Detroit could want him. He got a pretty good season last year. At 2m, a lot of teams would want a 4th D

Kind of feel like Montreal came out better than anyone. And that's coming from a Canes fan.
