Hawks decline. If they were willing to spend a 3rd to acquire Granny, that deal would have been made with the Pens long ago. Granny is a cap dump at his full cap hit. Only way the Sharks get anything for him in a trade is to retain at least $2m.

Ha. Yeah, still doesn't make Granny a guy Hawks spend a pick on. I'm kind of shocked the return on EK65 was so little. I get the $1.5m retention is a W, but still??

A 3rd is the capfriendly offer.

Grier offers the Sharks next 3 1sts along with Granlund for the hawks 7th in 2026.

Yeah idk why sharks fans feel like they won the EK trade cus the granlund cap hit they took on coupled with the retention on EK equates to the first round pick they got. Hawks got more for the corpse of Duncan Keith than San Jose got for the reigning norris winner

They got a 1st, flippable assets, less retention than anyone would have guessed and net $20 mil in cap over 4 years. Not bad for an supposed “old, injury prone, washed up” defenseman like everyone claimed he was before last season

Those assets aren't very flippable. I could see eating Hoffmans last year. Granlund might net a late pick with half retention but if he struggles on a rebuilding sharks team his value will sink even lower. Might get a 3rd for rutta tho. At the same time I think pit just pushed back their much needed rebuild back yet again. To me this is such a lose, lose trade.

I've been pointing out Hoffman, Granlund and Rutta on a ****ty Sharks team lessens their value by the TDL, but no one wants to acknowledge that.
Glad someone else has seen this.
Is anyone really thinking Granlund or Hoffman will be on track for 50pts this season on the Sharks?

And Hoffman is a defensive nightmare. Throughout his career, for every point he scores when on the ice, the opposing teams scores 1.5 points when he's on the ice.

Rutta caught magic in TB IMO.

Granny at 1/2 retained probably gets a 2nd or at least a 3rd.
