I love McCann as a player but I have a hard time thinking the Leafs would retain anything on Nylander, and I'm not sure SEA would be willing to let him go seeing he's still got 4 years at 5M.

I don't know enough about Carlo's value to comment on the second trade, but from what I have seen I don't believe the Bruins would do that

TOR would probably have to sweeten the deal and SEA would probably want assurances that Nylander would stick around, but I think McCann is one of the few players that can produce like Nylander can, with some PK upside, with a manageable cap hit. I don't know if the leafs would have a problem retaining on just one year left, I did have to make the Carlo trade in order to make that all work.

They probably do need to add more but idk about another first. McCann popped off this year, but Willy has been much more consistent in his production + he's way more lethal on the PP than McCann. Especially if Willy agrees to a sign-and-trade, I think the value's close. And despite what everyone says, Willy has more postseason experience and has proven that he can produce/drive play in the playoffs.

McCann blocks the trade. His still has some personal opinions about Toronto for trading for him and then leaving him exposed in the expansion draft.

I think Seattle retains not the Leafs.

AFAIK McCann had strong feelings about his time in Vancouver, not Toronto. By all accounts he was on good terms with Dubas and Keefe and states that he was excited to be a Leaf in the Hockey News article below.

Not sure why the Leafs would want Seattle to retain, McCann has four more years on his contract. SEA would definitely not want to retain salary for that long + the Leafs don't necessarily need it either. It also complicates Seattle's cap situation.

There's some local Seattle interview clips with him over the last season where I think his opinions changed.

Not one that either Ron Francis or Don Sweeney would make

Guess what? They left him available over a defensemen who isn’t on the team anymore, opinions can change very quickly and I’m sure McCaan’s has 1000% changed

Seattle would be retaining as it is getting more valuable assets from Toronto. What that does to Seattle's cap is irrelevant. To get better players you retain or add assets to the trade.

Beyond McCann's feelings regarding TOR, I can't imagine TOR gives up McCann for only 1 year of Nylander. SEA likely declines on that reason alone.
