Giving up that much for a guy turning 37 makes no sense, even if we're talking about a 37 year old legend.

Why would he want to play with an 18 year old kid instead of aging out with his buddies?

What would be fair value assuming Crosby said trade me only to Chicago?

Probably this. It would necessitate a complete rebuild in PIT and drive a MASSIVE revenue decline. FSG would require a huge payment instead of just keeping him. Maybe if he outright demanded a trade they would just unload him, but otherwise it would be in the org.'s best interest to play him until he retires. Of course this makes little sense for CHI but I understand the hypothetical nature of it unlike some others.

Even in an alternate universe where that magically happens… you can’t have top 10 protection on a 1st in a trade for one of the greatest players ever.

Yep, as interesting as that package is, those kids aren’t selling tickets and merchandise for a few years. The owners would have to eat some money in the short term and owners are too near sighted for that.

IF FSG wanted to rebuild, it would have happened last summer. They at the very least want to have a positive revenue stream for the next two seasons. Now maybe if these two seasons go poorly they decide to rebuild and let Crosby sign elsewhere if he wants. I think Crosby has more than earned that right. At worst, I'd imagine he would still be a solid 2C until he is 40.

That hypothetical is about as likely as Tampa getting a foot deep snow storm in August

If he wanted to play with CB, just let him force his way to CHI for next to nothing, like Kaner did with NYR. This is WAYYYY too much.

Sorry, but that's not even close to enough for Sid. I don't care how old he is now. He's still a top NHL forward.

If Sid wanted to play with Bedard, he should have tanked in 2023 for the lottery pick. Would have been cool to see Mario-Sidney-Bedard…
