If extension is in place before the trade, Sabres would make that move!

Can you not see the part where Pesce gets the extension he's after?

An 8 year extension for someone who's almost 29, no thanks. Did you not see the part where joker isn't a ufa?

The difference between joker and pesce is not 2 first round picks. No team is giving pesce a max length extension at 29. Sabres are losing assets and cap space essentially, when they can just wait for him to hit ufa

presumably the 24 1st wont be all that high, otherwise why deal right? Rosen is 3 years removed from his draft year with pedestrian AHL numbers. Thats not the same value as someone like kulich who set AHL records. Rosen is another mediocre year from being closer to bust status than what youre viewing him now. Good gms sell high before that happens (see drouin, jonathan).

Jokiharju is a third pair d-man full stop.

*IF* he hits free agency. A lot of teams want Pesce, he's instantly on the top pair and would allow someone like Dahlin or Power more offensive freedom. He's 28 yes, but with the pending cap increase, that AAV will be less of the cap% over time. Pesce's also not a particularly physical player, so a decline on that front isn't *as* likely as someone like Nikita Zadorov... Pesce's a unicorn man because DFD as good as him are rare. It's going to cost a lot, but he makes Buffalo a real threat if the goaltending holds up.

Maybe its Slavin or skeji inflate his number and if so good why doesn't Carolina just resign for that deal?

Pesce isn't and has never been enough for Nylander and here you are offering a much worse defenceman. You are as big a homer as anyone on this site

Pesce doesn't play with Slavin, hasn't for 6 years.... Carolina won't re-sign him for that because they hate giving out long term deals. They didn't do it with Trocheck, Niederriter, Hamilton... Pesce's just another one in that list

So he doesn't face the other teams top lines most of the time and he's a #1 RD.

Rosen was drafted in 2021, aka 2 years ago. 36 points in 66 AHL games as a 19 year old isn't "pedestrian". Kulich is currently the better talent, but that doesn't mean that Rosen is bad or being close to a bust. Joker is a 4th dman like pesce would be on the sabres.

Show me where I have said anything that is remotely homerism as this. Saying Nylander has value is not a good example. Let me spare you the time, I haven't ever done anything like this.

He doesn't play physical but it a defensive dman? That doesn't add up.

He is a shot suppression player which could very well add up and diminish his usefulness down the line. Not saying it would, but clearly paying him until he's 37 isn't ideal.

Toronto isn’t buying in on Skjei, his 18 goal year was once in his career and likely an outlier. Pesce would be a target instead but not at the cost of a point per game player.

Let's take these one at a time.
1. The Sabres first is still probably in the teens. They aren't a bottom feeder, they have a ton of talent coming, but there's some fair questions about goalie, bottom 3 d, #3 center, and defensive play from almost all of the forwards. Plus our division is still a gauntlet.
2. Not sure where you heard this narrative about Rosen, but it's uninformed at best, and frankly wrong. Comparing him to kulich who put up the best ahl season for an 18 year old in 30 years?- you're moving the goalposts to suit a narrative. The Sabres prospect guy said Rosen was the best player on the ice for the playoffs, and that teams were keying on him and making sure to hit him at every chance because he was so dangerous. I think he still needs to add more weight, but that's the worst I can come up with.
3. Yeah, I'm not a big jokiharju fan, to me he's a bottom pair guy that can move up in a pinch. He is however right handed which adds value. I feel like depth lefties are a dime a dozen, righties that can play just have more value.

Pesce turns 30 right after that extension starts
NO WAY Buffalo would trade for him with that contract

Pretty unlikely imo that another team would either

Now, if it was a 5year deal, then the Sabres could be interested
Including Carolina I’d suspect
The problem for u guys is that you’re not gonna get full value u less he’s willing to sign a more reasonable deal

Basically, if the deal he wants is too much, or too long for u guys to consider, why would any other team do it??

And besides the Sabres not being interested in Pesce with that contract, we surely aren’t overpaying like Caniac wants

ZERO CHANCE this deal happens- NONE

Defensive defenseman doesn't mean physical defenseman. Slavin is the best DFD in the NHL, and he would not resort to hitting if his life depended on it
