If I had to rate calgary players that I might wanna acquire, I would go lindholm>tanev>hanifin=markstrom. I don't see the Sabres having cap space to sign lindholm long term, so it would be a rental. Tanev would be nice, the problem is the Sabres signed Clifton and Johnson, and the optics would be awful if they acquired another right d that pushed johnson to the press box. Hanifin just doesn't work here, sure he would be wonderful on our third pair, but he's due for a new contract, and he would have better opportunities on 20 other teams. Markstrom would be nice if the cost was super cheap, but calgary is better off seeing if he can get back to form rather than sell low.

I think tanev would be great to play with power since power doesn't have a great defensive game and tanev can make up for that. He is aging but can help fuel a defensive game from power. I would move Clifton out of the lineup but there is no problem with.hom being 7th d.
