If Nylander came with an extension in the range of 8.5-9 million with 5-6 years of Term the Jets might take them up on that, Nylander has played center in the past. Rather then role the dice on resigning Ehlers in a couple years.

Jets are adding a hell of a lot more if we're trading 6-7 guaranteed years of the better player for 2 years of Ehlers.

The Jets' best option would be to just actually utilize Ehlers to get the most out of his abilities. Not sure what their problem with him is, but Nik being tied for the 7th most used forward on a per game basis is unacceptable. Strange to me that this has carried across two different coaches.

The irony is both players were selected in the same Draft year just one spot apart from each other.

I love Ehlers. One of my favourite players coming out of juniors. I keep waiting for the 90 plus points season tho. I dont get the idea of him playing PP2 and him being content with it. He doesnt seem as committed as hes needs to be and the diving is a bit much.

Well the rental aspect of Nylander makes this a no from Winnipeg.
