C'mon. Sharks aren't retraining for 4 years for that package and burning their last retention spot.

Absolutely no chance the Hawks would do this. They don’t need another goalie, Forbort is a bottom pairing LD which is an area the Hawks system is very deep in.

On top of that the Hawks are including two of their most tradeable assets for pieces they don’t need AND including draft capital which is a ridiculous thing for a rebuilding team to do.

Hawks decline instantly. How does this trade do anything to help their rebuild? If the Hawks had any interest in Swayman, they would have offer sheeted him or grabbed him in the Hall trade.

Sometimes I see trades and I think instantly "this is awful." Then I think, well I'm not really that smart so maybe I'll read the comments. Then I see my initial thoughts are confirmed.

Read in San Jose Hockey Now that Couture with 30% retained is probably worth a 1st. Wish it were more but this is probably a good deal for the Sharks. Who else are we going to use our last retention spot on and get a 1st?

If Boston is open to trading Swayman then the Sharks would much rather have Swayman than Grzelcyk.

A 1st in 2026?

We can't be subsidizing the Eastern conference for years.

Also use the retention spot on Duclair, Hoffman, or Labanc this year.
Then Granlund or Sturm next year.
Potentially Ferraro or Benning the year after.

None of those (maybe Ferraro) would return a 2026 1st I'm guessing, but we'd get back more picks.
