Buffalo appears to be a goalie away from legitimately competing.

Seems like a lot to give up for two years of Saros. Gee, the Sabres had opportunities to sign a UFA goalie...and there were good ones by didn't

They're decent pieces but nothing exciting. Seems to be theme in buffalo that they're gonna be able to have team full of first round picks so we can only offer players that are ovrr 23 in any trade. We would hate to "get older" then we loose our excuse that the teams young and mistakes are exceptable so its the goalies fault he only stopped 4 out of 10, 2 on 0 rushs.

Jokiharju - nashville has its own underperforming mid 20s dmen (fabbro). Then we have carrier and Livingstone. We already have 4 rhd signed for 2+ million each. I dont see us wanting a 5th.

Rousek - nothing really enticing here for nashville that already has a very deep pile of RW prospects.

UPL - a rework project with some potential but i wouldnt think alot of value.

Picks but i wouldnt expect them to be terribly high as Buffalo is a team on the rise.

Nashville would be looking for Ostlund or Savoie and given Buffalo has Thompson, Cozens, Jost, and Krebs down the middle i dont understand the hesitency to part with 1 of them for a legitimate top end starter. As a Nashville fan, id be fine with 1 of those two and UPL (underwhelmed but fine). We need a legit top line Center prospect.

What good UFA goalies were available?

Sure they weren't as good as Saros....but Anderson, Raaanta, Reimer, and Raanta. Gee Samsonov and Swaymen could have offer sheeted and cost them a second rounder.

Sabres cannot really trade Jokiharju, but he shouldnt be a deal breaker of any sort. Upgrade Rousek to Rosen should do it.

This is exactly the issue from NSH's perspective. Trotz already has said he wants scouts swinging for the fences and that he is not chasing mid-tier talent. NSH is in no position to move Saros, so the onus is on BUF to make the deal enticing. I have said for a long time now that Saros to BUF starts with Savoie or Ostlund and a first. NSH needs quality over quantity in this case, and it needs to be compelling because not only would NSH be giving up a top 5 goalie in the league, but giving up on returning to the playoffs anytime soon, so the return has to be strong for NSH to even consider

None of those goalies were going to leave their teams and Reimer isn't exactly what you call a good goalie

Sabres aren’t gonna give a crazy package for him though
Very unlikely

And that is totally fair. We've had the discussion before, that to pull Saros away from NSH, it is going to take a lot. LA and NSH had that discussion before the deadline last season, and LA walked away. NSH has been pretty firm that the price for Saros is high, and it likely won't come down much, especially considering NSH has the cap to pay Saros just about whatever he wants.

I was hoping we'd trade him before Hellebuyck gets traded, because if he goes undersold then it screws our chances of getting a massive return for him
