I love Sebass... there's 0 reason for the Canes to keep Aho if this deal is on the table. Jack's younger, probably better, certainly more offensively gifted.

We'd laugh in their face. Aho is not at Jack's level. Aho and Hischier are more comparable than Aho and Hughes

Unless a team can bring back Gretzky in his prime, I don’t see any trade for Hughes sitting well with Devils fans.

Aho's a fair bit better than Hischier. I think he's closer to Hughes than Hischier, but I do agree the Devils shouldn't do this for love nor money

Aho is better than Hischier, but I think their games are much more similar stylistically than Aho and Hughes. Hughes just possesses such great speed and playmaking ability; something that only a handful of players have in this league

So basically trading the much better, younger, and cheaper player for a 2nd round pick. Interesting...

Depends if Hischier can continue is current production. A point per game Selke level center is better than just a point per game center

Aho also possesses fantastic speed and playmaking ability... he's also probably a better natural goal scorer. I know that sounds weird because Hughes is coming off a 43 goal season, but the covid shortened season robbed Aho of a 45 goal year. Hughes is definitely better, but they're very comparable players. New Jersey shouldn't do this because Hughes is younger and etc etc, but I think Aho's much more comparable to Hughes than Hischier.

Jack Hughes is the definition of untouchable. Any trade involving him is unrealistic

Before last year for sure but if last year is the norm and Hischier is a point per game player being a selke contender he is better

Hughes is no way is a Selke candidate. That's the one wart in his game. He's not even bad defensively, he's just average.

That comment explicitly said Hischier

This trade would be a complete nightmare for the Devils.
Even Hischier - Aho one for one would have the Devils coming out on the losing side of the trade.

Nah. They're neck and neck. Going by last year alone Hischier is the better player, though Aho has a stronger track record admittedly.
But then again, given that Hischer is 2.5 years younger than Aho it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he'd clearly developed past Aho come October.

That was about Hischier but Hughes is actually very good defensively when he has to play it

Majorly disagree, you're looking at just base point totals when one of these players is in a system that strangles offensive talent. Aho's the better player, the better goal scorer too. Aho's also much better in terms of point production. Hischier is a Selke candidate though, Aho's still better. Aho's closer to Hughes than Hischier.

Oh Hischier definitely is a Selke candidate, but Aho's better. The gap between them offensively favors Aho more than the gap defensively favors Hischier

I mean that statement is just blatantly incorrect but ok. If Hischier maintains this level of offense, he is easily better than Aho.

Hischier:
EVO: 10.3
EVD: 2.8
Off: 13.9
Def: 1.6
GAR: 20.3
WAR: 3.4

Aho:
EVO: 9.9
EVD: 0.2
Off: 12.2
Def: 0.7
GAR: 15
WAR: 2.5

Hischier is better offensively and defensively. The GAR model doesn't even value Hischier as highly. While he finished 2nd in Selke voting, his defensive metrics are just ok using this model. Despite that, he is still better than Aho

Nico also had 38 xGoals and just 31 actual goals so if those line up better next year his offensive production could even improve, and even MORE so if he plays alongside Meier. Honestly wouldn't be shocked to see Nico in the 85-90 point range next year
