Somehow landing Kane 23-24 trades

Created by: Wingsfannn
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 6, 2023
Published: Sep. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don’t think Kane is coming to the redwings for a second and although I’m not a fan of the guy I wouldn’t object to it simply for the fact he’d be only guy at the deadline who’d return a 1st+.

Too early to tell how some of the moves might work with teams barely having cap space and players salary’s being lower as the season progresses, worry about it if and when trades happen..3rd teams involved etc..

With all the kids coming up and seeing games this season and next Fabbri was already headed out the door. With the Kane signing Yzerman just moves him sooner rather than later

Are Maatta and Edvinsson competing for a spot?

If yes, are you sending us the winner or the loser of that competition?

If Maatta wins, do we get Edvinsson?
If Maatta loses, does he still cost a 3rd?

Not a chance from the Canes

Wouldn’t give up either piece for Kane, needless to say both.

Carolina laughs at you. Why wouldn't they just sign Kane for 3 million now if they wanted to. They could do it now, and be fine. Plus, Kane won't return a 1st. Literally look at his trade last year, he didn't get a 1st when he WASN'T coming off hip surgery. You think he's going to now? Are you nuts?

Kane is gonna have a NMC/NTC so he forces his way to a team of his pick again. I wouldn’t expect much of a return

LOL Nashville is definitely not paying you for Fabbri, albeit only a 5th but we're still not doing that simply because "we have the cap space"

Tampa Bay declines. Ghost isn't the type of D man Tampa wants. He doesn't actually play D. And they can't afford that cap hit anyway. If Kaner is signing a 1 year deal, you can bet it has a full NMC. He won't want to be traded once he picks the team he wants to play for.

This makes no sense at all for Detroit.

McIsaac is going to be waived and sent to GR he's way behind all of Edvinsson, Johansson, Viro, and Wallinder on the depth chart. Ghost will be traded at the deadline and that is the only defender that will be traded this season. Edvinsson and Johansson will get their chances when injuries occur or after Ghost is traded.

Fabbri is worth a lot more than a 5th round pick to detroit even if he gets injured a lot. A 5th round pick is not worth getting rid of him for, we don't need the cap.

Määttä was just extended, he won't be traded.

Perron has a full NMC he won't be traded. He will either retire or extend for another year if he wants.

Sprong will either play really well and then get a lot more than a 4th in return or an extension or he will not play very well and he won't get anything in return. Trading him for a 4th will never happen.

No, Edvinsson is hurt. If he needs to spend more time in GR to re-acclimate that’s fine.

No, there is no competition so there is no bearing for a winner/loser.

Maata is a serviceable 4-6 D while being better suited with an offensive partner, whereas Edvinsson is blue chip prospect (which you know). You aren’t getting Edvinsson (which you also know) as the two aren’t comparable.

Say what you want about Maata, he still holds value as a depth defenseman to a contender either at the deadline, or next season. Taking into account possible retention, other pieces going to or from, etc. his ballpark probably runs anywhere from a late 2nd (small odds) to a 4th (slightly higher odds), but settles around a 3rd.

I’m not too opposed to having Maatta, problem is what will his role be in NJ with Siegenthaler, Hughes, Bahl and Smith all on the left side?

Easy no on ghost from TB a pp specialist isn't needed. Sergachev and Hedman are more than capable of running the point on it. If either get injured Darren Raddysh did a really good job running it in Syracuse last year. Besides WTF is TB coming up with 4+million in cap space?

Devils dont need or want a dman when they have Hughes,Bahl,Seigs and Smith. PS learn how math works, How does 3m fit into the 1.8m the devils have. Man too many clueless ppl out here refusing to understand how math/Capspace works. Your gonna have to retain but still the Devils dont need a Dman right now, and if theres a injury they have Smith and Nemec.

I'd love to read a rational explanation for TB doing that Ghost trade?
