I love Gio as most NHL fans do and if heart was all that mattered, he could play for another 10 years. Unfortunately, I don’t think he has the speed to keep up anymore and I think Benoit will steal his spot as the 6th/7th D.

Giordano is looking for a cup, sure retiring and Calgary would be nice and all, but he jeopardizes a chance at a cup for it. Giordano is still effective and Toronto wouldn't do it because he can still play PK and chip in a bit offensively.

I traded for what Toronto needs. Top 6 is fine, it’s the depth and defence that need help. Glass is not even in his prime yet and putting up good numbers. Lauzon is still a young developing D that can play in your top 4. Trenin is a big physical depth forward, you also forgot to mention the 1st rd pick and 2nd rd pick. If you looked at all the trades, you’d see that I traded Nylander to NSH. Doesn’t have to be Miller. Trouba, Schneider or Lindgren would look good in a Leaf’s jersey. Leafs would have to add a bit more for the other 3 though. IMO

Futures do nothing for TO, they are win now. Glass is 24 and his best season is 35 points. Lauzon is a 3rd pair defenceman. Trenin is just big. Nothing here makes TO better.
