*STANLEY CUP CONTENDER FOR THE NEXT 3 SEASONS.
**POSSIBLE FOR THE RANGERS TO RE-SIGN A HEALTHY PATRICK KANE IN FEBRUARY 2024 ON THE CHEAP AND FOR HIM TO CONTRIBUTE TO A PLAYOFF RUN.
***RANGERS ARE WEAK IN NET BEHIND SHESTERKIN WITH QUICK WELL PAST HIS PRIME AND A LIKELY CANDIDATE TO HAVE HIS CONTRACT TERMINATED BEFORE SEASON STARTS. DESMITH IS ONE OF THE BETTER BACKUP GOALIES IN THE NHL AND TO GET HIM AT A 900K CAP HIT IS A HOME RUN.
****BRADEN SCHNEIDER IS A SOLID DEFENSEMAN BUT HES NOT A TOP-4 DEFENSEMAN IN NEW YORK FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. HE ONLY PLAYED 15 MINUTES A NIGHT IN THE PLAYOFFS ON THE BOTTOM-6 PAIRING WHICH TO BE FAIR MADE UP MOST OF HIS SEASON. THE RANGERS ARE LIKELY TO MAINTAIN THEIR TOP-4 WITH MILLER, FOX, LINDGREN, TROUBA FOR THE NEXT 3 SEASONS. THE RANGER HAVE A CAP PROBLEM NEXT YEAR WITH KAPPO AND LINDGREN NEEDING NEW DEALS. KAPPO COULD EASILY BE A SENSIBLE TWO-YEAR BRIDGE DEAL (2 YR / 7 MILLION RANGE) BUT LINDRGEN MAYBE A LONG-TERM PLEDGE (6 YR / 36 MILLION RANGE). EVEN WITH A BRIDGE DEAL, THE RANGERS CANNOT AFFORD SCHNEIDER AFTER THIS SEASON.
*****JORDAN HARRIS HAS BEEN SOLID WITH THE HABS AND HAS PLAYED MORE MINUTES PER NIGHT THAN SCHNEIDER. HE'S CHEAP AT 1.4 MILLION FOR THE 2024/25 SEASON.
******JOHNATHAN KOVACEVIC IS A TERRIFIC 7TH DEFENSEMAN WHO PLAYS WELL ON THE RIGHT SIDE. RANGERS GET HIM ON THE CHEAP AT 767K FOR THE 2024/25 SEASON.

Buyout window is passed, so you can't buy out Goodrow this year, which rather throws a wrench in your entire plan.

Just made an ACGM showing that rangers can resign Schneider (again). You should take a look at it so you can revise this ACGM

Don't see the logic in trading Scheneider. What's so bad about 15 minutes a game? Teams need at least seven competent NHL Dmen, so surely the Rangers have the plaing time and cap for Scheneider

And what most posters here don't know or want to know is Trouba's NMC burns off after this season at the very moment Schneider will need a new contract, so if Schneider continues to develop as he has, it's more likely Trouba gets moved and Schneider slides up to 2nd RD behind Fox.

Take the Leafs, Is Reilly a the first pairing despite playing the most minutes. He plays the most minutes because of the "easy" PP time. Is a guy with Giordano who plays 18 minutes...first pairing as a primary PK player and against heavy minutes against lines. In some cases, I think the numerical ratings are meaningless. Much like the 1/2/3/4 starting pitchers in MLB. One to four make the same number of starts. One guys isn't more valuable than another,. some just get paid and I admit are expected to be better.

This is an awful deal. We aren’t trading Schneider for cap reasons. Gotta make it worthwhile to even be considered cause the above offer ain’t it.

Trouba was brought in to be that guy before Fox came into the picture, so they have to live with overpaying him some to be a 2nd pair RD, for now. But as soon as Schneider is deemed ready to handle 20+ minutes, I can see Trouba being moved out, because you can't pay him $8m/year to play 3rd pair. That's why Schneider isn't available for trade.
