I like the MTL trade for both teams.

MTL has too many young D prospects right now. Barron might start in the AHL because of the likes of Mailloux and Reinbacher.

Value is fine but its not what the habs are looking for.

If the habs trade barron its either

For a bonafide young 2C option

In a package for a higher end still young RD or young starting goalie.

They dont want another winger

Neither of those trades make sense for Buffalo. JJ is an important part of this team now and in the future. Barron fills a need for sure but in a hypothetical trade it would make much more sense to move a prospect like Rosen. Jokiharju has more value than Kunin. Bryson will not be playing. Johnson, Johnson, Stillman, heck even Novikov are all better than him

As much as I would like barron, i don't see peterka moving. Plus the Sabres went from having absolutely nothing coming up on D, to having some interesting stuff. Maybe not the super high end D prospect, but enough that we wouldn't offer up peterka out of desperation. I would do the kunin trade. Not a fan of jokiharju, and kunin represents a two way forward (which we are short on), who plays center, and has some grit to his game. Even if he doesn't beat out girgensons or Krebs for a center spot, I would think he would help round out the roster.

Habs would accept that. I like Barron a lot, but our biggest need is offence. JJP offers exatcly that.

From the Sabres perspective, I like this trade a lot. I think Barron would be a perfect fit for Dahlin. Buffalo doesn’t have big defensive prospects and Barron would complete that top 4. And losing JJP isn’t a problem, since they have Kulich who will replace him in the near future
