As an outside observer (I'm a Canucks fan), I'm curious what Sabres fans would think about offer-sheeting Zegras for around the same contract (maybe 4-5 years to really let Zegras spite Anaheim for being sticklers). You would have to give up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in 2024, but that seems less than a lot of the offers I've seen proposed...

Zegras/drysdale pull for buffalo would be quite the pull if they can get both

Really can’t see the Sabres putting the cap and assets together for Zegras.

I am not a fan of Zegras, I think he is good player, but this contract and trade package overvalue him by a lot.

Agreed.

I say wait for benson.
In terms of skills like passing and shooting I believe benson will be better. I think zegras is a better skater and has that flair that only guys like Kane and datsyuk have had in the last 20 years but is he really worth the extra 7 mill compared to Benson’s ELC you will have for a few seasons?

These prices look more like pettersson prices. At least that would make sense, petterson is a ppg center who plays solid defensively. And that two way game is gonna be huge if we ever wanna win. What happens if zegras ends up moving to the wing?- this could end up looking horrifically bad.

It’s sounding like he will move to wing. Mcatvish and Carlsson have the size and 2 way ability that you want in a Center. Zegras is gonna be a LW for one of them and become a patty Kane esce player. They also have gaucher who has 3C potential.
I just don’t see a chance that zegras continues to be a Center unless Mctavish or Carlsson don’t pan out

This is a hilariously bad trade. Mittelstadt put up similar numbers last year and plays a way better 2-way game.

Then you're adding Savoie, Rosen, a 1st and a 2nd...

Talk about emptying the cupboards...

I agree, there is strong chance that Sabres already have prospect in their pipeline, that will be better player than Zegras.
