4C options

Created by: SuperJoe19
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 1, 2023
Published: Oct. 2, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Reading between the lines, I think cogliano is still hurting from back surgery which is understandable, not sure how tufte doesnt make the team.

Olofsson looks like he has the job with meyers not out playing him and being waivers exempt.

Lias anderson on waivers, colorado likes its 1st round reclamation projects. So maybe this is an option.

There is also akil thomas out there as a possible fit for 4C.

Depends on who can PK the best I suppose

Lias Andersson sounds like a terrible 4c option.

I would look at a guy like Zohorna from Pitsburgh. If he were to hit waivers, that could be a very interesting target.

Noah Gregor hasn't been signed by the Leafs yet. He is looking very solid in camp right now. They could take a run at him also.

7OA in 2017....... The rangers really need to overhaul their draft and development staff, the amount of misses they've had is just unacceptable.

Not as good as olofsson, even if he was doing as good he still has the ability to pass through waivers.

I'd honestly rather have a guy like lias andersson scrappy 6"1 centre who can play the wing, as speed, some grit, and potential for scoring... with tufte on his wing, and LOC on the right could be really nice

Lias Andersson has been a pleasant surprise, definitely shouldn’t have been a 7th OA pick but he is a hockey player
He is far from being a terrible option, despite the fact I can’t see him being claimed

I think he is a terrible option for a 4C. 4C you tend to want someone big, who can win faceoffs, who is high energy and who is good defensively.

You don't really want a high octane offensive guy in that spot.

Andersson has proven to be a very good offensive AHL'er. That's it.

If you don’t watch the games and only watch the stats, you don’t know what type of player he is on the ice. Andersson plays with a lot of energy and win puck battle … I think he’s a good 1st line AHLer, but he wouldn’t hurt on a 4th line (not for 82 games tho)

As a contender your answer for 4C can't be a bust or a guy with zero NHL experience. Just sign Stastny or something

I watched him quite a bit in LA. He's completely ineffective in the NHL.

He tries hard but I think it’s his speed or lack of speed. Small sample size for me. Only really watched him in preseason here in Montreal

By all indications, Cogs will be ready for the regular season but won't play in any preseason games. I've liked Tufte so far and Meyers has been thoroughly unimpressive so might as well try someone else at that 4C spot while Meyers is still waivers exempt. Drouin is their reclamation project this year so they aren't going to add another one.

From Bednars comments about him it sounds like he'll want to give Pavel a shot at 4C once he's healthy.

I thought there may be something in Andersson as a Habs fan or at least hoped, but he has been very underwhelming in camp and never made much of a push to crack a pretty weak lineup.

What even remotely suggests Andersson is any of that? He’s never been able to make the Rangers or the Kings when they were bad for a full season, he has 17 points in 110 games over 6 years, he is a 43.5 CF 5v5 for his career, and has literally been a negative xGD every year of his career. It would be a total waste of resources to even consider him.

Keep Meyers in the AHL or move on altogether. He's not an option.

Lias is terrible. One decent AHL season but is a non factor in the NHL. if you're a contender and he's your 4C you're in trouble

I think they'd be wise to give anyone but Meyers a shot; they know who he is and it isn't great. Might as well try Olofsson and/or Pavel there and send Meyers to Loveland since he's still waivers exempt. If Pavel or Olofsson don't work out at 4C, they know they've got Meyers but I suspect one or both would be better than Meyers. No reason to keep throwing good money after bad with BM.
