CHI isn't paying for Goodrow. The Shesterkin proposal would be interesting, but ultimately, I think CHI just stays the course with their picks and goalie prospects. They can always address goaltending down the road, if the team is ready to contend and none of our G prospects have stepped up. Then again, it is Shesterkin...

They shouldn't. They should be aggressively retooling and trying to get top tier picks and prospects. And developing the young talent that we can salvage. The vet core of Panarin, Zibanejad and so on are SOFT, embarrassing, and will never win anything meaningful let alone a Stanley Cup

I doubt Trouba, Zibanejad, and Panarin waive their NMCs.

Hawks decline both of those trades instantly. The two picks in the Goodrow deal need to be going TO the Hawks along with Goodrow. And a 2nd and 4th still might not be enough. Not that it matters, cause Goodrow isn't waiving for Chicago anyway. And rebuilding teams don't trade away two firsts in the same draft for a goalie. No matter how good he might be.

I'd like to think that if the GM said to them "thanks for your service but we are tearing this team apart and restructuring it" they'd have the tact to waive. Especially if they are going to good destinations. Otherwise they can all be healthy scratched every game until they leave for all I care

Pens should accept, even tho cap gymnastics would be required, but who knows if Carter would accept. Rangers would probably have to take Eller back, as well, for the numbers to work for Pittsburgh.

Healthy scratch to the end of their deals then for being detrimental to the direction of the team. They definitely aren’t winning so long as Panarin and Trouba are on this team. If they’re smart they retain and move the both of them. Then trade Trocheck, honestly for cap space if nothing else. Try and move Goodrow or buy him out. Trade Shesterkin (don’t like the idea of giving him $9 mil plus on his next contract). Have Fox, Kreider and Mika as the pillars and surround them with youth that they can help develop. Kakko, Laf, Chytil, Schneider, Miller and Lindgren can still be around and the core is there. Guys like Cuylle, Othmann and eventually Perrault will hopefully be able to step into the lineup in the next couple of years and supplement the top guys. Status quo isn’t getting this team anywhere. It’ll take a ballsy move to progress. And sometimes you need to take a step back to take 2 steps forward.

I dont like that contact even with others going back. Id rather get a shorter term ringer to help out for this year and next year.

Wouldn't benching them just hurt the team more? Like, the roster spots are still there and you now have a 25 million dollar filler in your team. Also don't think that would do go for team morale, having three of your big guys being held hostage on the healthy scratch list until agreeing to go just sounds scummy.

I doubt it. That is too much salary and term for CHI specifically, and they don't have a need at this time. I doubt they would have any interest in him if he isn't a cap dump that they were being compensated to take. I could possibly see a contending team having interest, though. Not sure if anyone would pay for him. Rangers would probably have better luck moving him next summer if they are going to do it.

Crazy to not take him for that cost, especially since it would’ve taken a second just to dump Carter with FC as the return. Someone’s gotta play center after Sid & Geno leave and if, for whatever reason, you did want to unload the contract in a couple years, Trocheck would still net a solid return.

But only leaves us with an estimated 13 mill in cap space next season and we still need to sign Jake, plus 3 more forwards, an entire new 3rd pair on D, and a back up goalie. Sending Carter back helps this season most definitely, but makes next offseason really tough.

I completely agree about Shesterkin. He is amazing and I have no problems with him at all, he's one of the only bright spots in our current roster, but a star goalie with no help doesn't win Cups. Look what happened to Lundqvist. Forced him to carry the team on his back until his life was literally at risk. It would be much smarter for everyone involved for Igor to get paid elsewhere and have a chance to win outside of NYC, and for the Rangers to get a "very good, but not Igor/Hank level" goalie for cheaper.
