For Anderson and Xhekaj? I wouldn't take them for free. The trade as it stands makes Toronto worse

Abruzze and Robertson aren't even NHLers and Brodie is old. Toronto would have to pay a 1st for Anderson, another 1st for his retention and then another 1st for WIFI

That's the reality and I know you have a different opinion but the Habs have no need or incentive to take on those three Leafs

Anderson without retention is a negative asset. He won't be traded because of his awful contract. Xhekaj is a third liner without much upside. He is not worth a 1st.

The trade may not work for the Habs, but there is no world where anyone trades a 1st for either of those players

All I have ever heard from insiders and reporters about Anderson is that GMs love him and that Hughes has already turned down multiple offers that included a 1st. I get fans on this site have the OPINION that he's a negative asset but until someone who actually knows what they're talking about says it Im going to continue to side with people who actually talk to the people making the trades on his value.

Xhejak is the youngest heavy weight in the league and plays a competent third pairing role, that gets you a late first at just about any trade deadline, plus if he is being traded to a rival that price would be a premium.

Like I said, three 1st rounders would have to be added to this deal for MTL to say yes. Should Toronto even consider that? No, it would be hella stupid. Is it the reality of the situation? Yes

Nah I would take Brodie or NRob over Anderson in a heartbeat. Problem for the Habs is the retention

Brodie is an excellent defensive defenseman. NRob is cheap and still has upside as a prospect. Anderson is a 5m third liner

Sam Constetino from Daily Faceoff, Elliot Friedman, Darren Dreger all talked about it last year around the deadline on their podcasts.

Think about it this way, he is a big player who skates fast. You can look through a bunch of trades deadlines and see teams giving up assets for players like that. Jeannot last year, Foligno year before that, hell even 34 year old Rick Nash got a 1st purely based off reputation.

I'm not advocating that he is actually a good player or even worth his contract but his reputation as a physical player makes the old boys club of NHL GMs love him

Players like anderson in the league = less than 5
Players like brodie in the league = too many to count (but they all have more affordable contracts too)
Players like nick Robertson in the league = 0 , he isn't an NHLer

The Coyotes need Dumba a lot more than they need any other player.

Xhekaj has the kind of attitude that the Leafs need. It isn't a terrible idea, but simply keeping Schenn would have been a much better option.

Brodie is so talented he trips over the blue line.

Remember you’re talking to people that actually believe Fitzy offered Nemec and a 1st for Anderson (and Went Wughes Wejected)…lol

Wow, you'd be an amazing GM.

Are you saying that throughout the league, people are scoffing at Xhekaj right now? They wouldn't take him for free? Are you serious?

Let me clarify, I would not take the two of them together, for free. Most teams would take wifi, but I think the Leafs have better options and wifi would be 7D or sent down. Same goes for my Devils.

I think they will at deadline, he’s on a cheap 1 year deal. No question he’ll get traded, just a matter of highest bidder.

agree at TDL but def not for a 32yo W, a always injured D (they already had), and a 7th round NCAAer.
