The deal makes absolutely zero sense from Van's POV. They're giving up all the better assets but not getting compensated in any way. Losing tons of value for no reason.

Blues decline. We have no cap for Rakell or the need really. We are retooling and trying to get younger. Adding a 30 year old winger on a 5 year contract makes no sense for us

The thought process behind the Blues trade is a good one, but it doesn't really make sense for the blue for a few reasons. I would agree trying to swap rakell to a team for a RD + middle six forward could work, but blues wouldn't be the team.

The Vancouver trade is just a cluster F and would never happen, too lopsided to the penguins. Plus when was the last time an NHL trade happened involving that many NHL players lol.
