Description
If Calgary is selling, they could look to Toronto to trade tanev in salary to salary but use that ability to acquire more assets. they could then look to trade Klingberg for a 4th to 5 the round pick maybe plus a prospect.

With how he's been playing Monahan and his contract, he's clearly worth at least a 1st round pick.

His injury history makes it more likely he gets traded for a 2nd rounder that becomes a 1st if he plays 75% of the games for his new team, or a condition along those lines

Flames aren’t adding any picks to a potential rental trade

the bidding war only works in montreal favor, and the winner will pay an unprotected 1st and more

I highly doubt any team will pay an unprotected 1st, his injury history is too extensive to risk it straight up

They might add decent mid level prospects but, not a for sure 1st IMO

To be fair he's no longer a 70-80 point centre whatsoever

These are really bad for Calgary and Montreal.

He's a rental, all that matters if there is a belief that he can be healthy this year. If he's healthy and continues to perform at the level he has this year and last, then that performance has generally returned even more than a 1st from a buyer. Under those circumstances, a trade may not be worth it to Montreal if they think they can re-sign him.

He's currently an 11 points in 12 games with 60.4% FO win rate center with a cap hit less than 2m

Remove the 2nd and Klingberg and we have something to work off of for Tanev, otherwise these Trades are God Awful for CGY & MTL
