Still selling at TDL but some light purchases too

Created by: GiggywithGibby
Team: 2023-24 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 13, 2023
Published: Nov. 13, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
ANA
  1. Peeke, Andrew
Additional Details:
Peeke looked HORRID when he had to play up on top pair last season, but 2nd pairing with a partner who isn't a complete defensive liability I think he'd handle things fine.

I specifically like his skating ability, I think it meshes well in Cronin's system.
CBJ
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
*last 3rd Anaheim owns this draft.
2.
ANA
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (FLA)
  2. 2025 4th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Florida is dinged up defensively and running short on right shot Dmen, could be a good pickup with time before the TDL. Seems like a logical match, but could be almost anyone. I know tons of leafs fans have been trading for him but every time I make a trade with Leafs fans they get hopping mad about something.
FLA
  1. Lyubushkin, Ilya ($1,375,000 retained)
3.
ANA
  1. 2024 7th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Backup goalie already cleared on waivers, now that we know Franky is shut down for the season, Colorado could look for some extra safety net. Stalock lost the backup role due to Dostal's excellent play, but they guy has shown spurts of excellent play, including last year in Chicago. Cheap insurance to take a flier on.
4.
ANA
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (TBL)
TBL
  1. Carrick, Sam
Additional Details:
Sam's having a hell of a season for a 4th line grinder, seems exactly like the type of player Tampa usually goes and acquires, and being on a cheap deal helps them stay cap compliant.
5.
ANA
  1. Wahlstrom, Oliver
Additional Details:
Intriguing prospect, but very clearly seems to need a change of scenery. Not scoring in NYI, getting benches, and playing bottom 6 minutes when he does get ice time. Seems to have been jumped by Holmstrom in the lineup.

Could be an intriguing rehab project for Anaheim, Walhatrom could respond well to Cronin's teachings and system.
NYI
  1. Henrique, Adam ($2,912,500 retained)
  2. Nesterenko, Nikita
Additional Details:
Anaheim doesn't have realistic cup hopes this year, might make the playoffs and make some noise, but the emphasis is still building on the future, so I think valuable UFAs still get moved. The Islanders notoriously need scoring and Rico seems like a Lou type of player. Can take some short term cap back if needed to balance the books.

Nesterenko is a NY native and an intriguing prospect, gives some youth with NHL potential back to the Islanders for letting Wahlstrom go.

I think I’d want to see Helleson with Minty over Peeke

I'd rather let Helleson over marinate in the AHL until the 25-26 season when he loses waivers and then work him into a 3 way rotation with Gudas and Peeke for RD2, RD3, and 7D his first year, then take over from Gudas at the end of Radkos contract. I already don't like how green our blue line is, I wouldn't make that problem any worse by rushing rookies.

I personally think Peeke is worth a 3rd right now so I can agree to that assessment but that's just me.

Now we know Frankie is done I can see the Avs looking for a cheap insurance goalie so it's not impossible.

Pretty conservative but thats probably for the best, nothing to pick at or complain about in my eyes

Although I do agree with @GeneralLandro in saying I would rather see Helleson/other youngsters we have over a guy like Peeke

If Pat doesnt want to spend any assets to bring in a proven top 4 RHD, then I think Peeke is the best alternative, especially at that price. I just think the Ducks 100% need to bring in a defensively sound RHD. Helleson could maybe slot in, but I just havent heard anything about him yet that makes me confident in giving him a look in a season where we actually want to win. I would rather be too deep at D because both of those contracts will almost certainly carry value and never cost anything to offload if needed. Liking the Wahlstrom trade too, although I will admit I have no idea what his value is. But if we can get a young, big-bodied shooter in the top 9 at the price of an expiring contract and a B level prospect, I send that everyday. Only deal I would maybe not do is the Stalock one, I think having him be the veteran third option is necessary because who do we have after him, Clang? But its a third string Tendy trade so it isnt too consequential. We could easily pick up another veteran guy to play in San Diego. Love the line combos too, this would be a fun team to watch.

Salzy OldNYIfan LosPatos thoughts?

Everyone else is pretty much summing up what I think haha.

I wouldn’t be opposed to make a “splash” this deadline

I think if we make the post season this season we are playing with house money, there's a lot of teams in our conference that we're expected to be much better, not sure if any of them will clean their act up.

Only real thing we "need" is a true #1RHD, who could we go get?

I like both Columbus and NYI deals, but I just don't know enough about the other teams situations to judge them.

Henrique was drafted by Lou, so you're 100% right he's a Lou player.

Rasmus Andersson is a true 1 RHD. But that’ll be a hefty cost that I don’t think the Ducks should inquire
