I have no doubt Huberdeau would return to form on that line. Barzal is good at creating space, horvat can close. It makes sense. I'm not sure anyone else will see it that way though. Huby's stock is plummeting fast. It's like trying to catch a falling knife.

I'd do the Hanafin deal and send a pick to a 3rd party team for retention

With everything you said about Josh Anderson in the last 2 years, how can you think Huberdeau is tradeable?

Drop the 1st for an 2nd Hanifin is not worth a 1st, you need to retain on Hanifin cuz how does 4.95 fit into the devils 1.8m. and once again that 24 1st goes to the Shark if the Devils make ECF. Fitzy doesnt trade firsts for rentals.

I honestly kinda like the Huberdeau deal but you gotta retain something there’s no way we’re paying him 10.5 mil a year. His contract is still worse than Lee’s and Lee is almost unplayable now

Perhaps you didn't understand the metaphor about the falling knife. I didn't say that he was tradeable. Maybe read it again?

Also, Josh Anderson has never been an elite point producer in the NHL. Huberdeau is in hist first year of being overpaid, Anderson is in his 4th year. It's doubtful Calgary will have any Elite talent for him to play with for the next few years. Best case scenario is that he has a resurgence once the team improves, like Benn in Dallas.

This is a bad take. Hanifin easily gets a 1st. I don't think NJD I'd a good fit.

I forgot NJ were close to the cap
Not sure if Columbus needs Lindholm retained to fit him (with Bean & Boqvist going the other way)
CGY could use their 3rd retention slot on Hanifin
Chiarot was worth a 1st former 3rd rounder prospect and a 4th
Hanifin is worth a 1st round pick

I'm not sure how other Isles fans feel, but I'd say yes to this.
