Zero chance Winnipeg gives up 2 top 4 defenseman and a 1st to get one. It defeats the purpose of the trade. You need to be a little more realistic with your expectations.

Pionk is not a top 4 D. Samberg averages 15 min per game

Id do all of these. Also get rid of Clutter and Martin which should be easy, Pageau and Palms too if possible. I wanna blow this s--t up.

Just need to show the team that we are rebuilding to hopefully get everyone to be willing to waive their NTCs.

Trading for Horvat killed this team.

Islanders have a beautiful d core and goaltending duo. Their forward group has ZERO super stars though. Barzal is a star, making borderline super star money. Horvat is a star. But they are missing legit super star power up front.

Lee having a rough start of the year doesn't help either.

Leafs would be hard in on Romanov, Pelech, Pulock or Dobson if any or all become available.

COL isn’t doing that, it puts them over the cap and still needing to sign at least 2 forwards a dman and goalie and empties the prospect cupboard. Pretty easy no.

So you're saying you don't know anything about the players other that a few minor stats. Both are top 4 and you know it or you wouldn't be asking for them.

Also, I'm a fan of Engvall. I thought the Leafs should have traded Kerfoot at the deadline and not Engvall. But 7 years x 3m a year is nuts. You don't lock up a 3rd line winger for 7 years.

Jets decline that.
Samberg is untouchable and Pionk is needed for the Middle pairing.
The trade as proposed does more damage than improve the Jets.

The Avs don’t have a legitimate #2 center, Nelson is a #1. This would be a pretty easy yes from Avs management if Nelson was available , Especiallt with retention

The AAV is very fair for Engvall, he’s the primary driver of one of the best play driving lines in hockey dating back to last season

Pionk is averaging 20 minutes and 45 seconds a game right now. 3rd most for dmen on Winnipeg.

20:45 on most teams is top 3.

That is not depth D playing minutes.

Where he’s played doesn’t affect his worth… you obviously know that or you wouldn’t be arguing so hard on it… you’d just accept he’s not available and name another option.

AAV is fair. I agree. 7 years is bonkers. 3 x 3 would have been reasonable. 3 x 7 is silly. Lou messed up hard on that one.

Yeah he’s just getting killed in those minutes. He had that one great season but he’s more of a 3rd pair , Powerplay specialist kind of D

He’s top 7 in 5v5 goals scorer among all centers over the last 3 seasons. His line is the isles #1 line. How is he is a #2?

There is a case Adam Pelech is the best LHD in the league right now. Unironically. He's elite at both ends of the rink. Giving him up and taking on Campbell and only getting that return would suck.

I like the other moves enough though

Since 2017-2018 Pionk has averaged
22:23 mins
21:10 mins
23:23 mins
21:58 mins
21:08 mins
21:56 mins
20:45 mins

That's #2 minutes on most teams. He has been doing this for 7 years. Of course that is not a stanley cup team. I am sure on a stanley cup team he would get 18 mintues a game. If he were getting "killed" in those minutes, he wouldn't be playing them for 7 years straight and with many different coaches.

No they wouldn’t and no he isn’t. COL doesn’t trade 1st rd picks. Nelson isn’t a #1 center, #1 centers are ppg players which he isn’t he is very nice #2C. RyJo has been fine as the 2C and Nelson isn’t 2 1st rd picks better than him especially considering their cap situation.

Think he more means Samberg who mostly plays 3rd pair minutes with some PK duties, Pionk is a top 4 dman in Winnipeg, 2nd pair RHD who plays on both special teams.

past 3 years:

59 points in 72 games
75 points in 82 games
10 points in 10 games

Those are number 2 numbers. Solid number 2 numbers. But number 2. If he is your #1C, you aren't going anywhere.
