I think you’d be closer if you paid a 1st like tampas first and got a 3rd coming back

If you're not willing to pay the price for a player like Berggren then you're not going to get a player like Berggren lmao

Just because it makes sense for your team doesn't mean it makes sense for the other.

Obviously he listened, and then he responded. CHI isn't moving a 1st for a, soon to be, 24 year old pending RFA that hasn't proven himself at the NHL level in the least bit. It's possible there is a team that might pay a late first for him, but I doubt it. Especially not a rebuilding team like CHI who owns a pick from a TBL team that is currently 'on the outside looking in', in the playoff race. Also, if you actually believe a 2nd is useless, I'm glad you aren't a real GM.

A late 2nd....sure. A first....no chance as a 5'10 smallish winger is the last thing the Hawks should be adding given the makeup of the prospect pool. Good luck getting a first elsewhere, cause it won;t be from the Hawks

Pay the price? He's just not worth that. He's 23 and in his D+5 season. And to that point he's got 30 NHL points in 70 something NHL games. Him being worth a 2nd is more than fair, no one is paying a 1st and especially not the tampa 1st that will be top 20.

And before anyone tries to say "then we just won't trade him" its been said by many reliable sources that DET is in trade talks surrounding Berggren. So it's on the table wether you like it or not and I'll guarantee it's not for a 1st round pick. I'd bet anything on that lol

He has 30 points in 70 games and he's 23. He may be worth a 2nd, but no team trades that for a 2nd lmao.
Then, considering that Detroit is likely going to be looking for things *now* and not maybes for the future; I doubt he's traded for any picks.

There are two teams in this deal, incase you're curious. That means both teams need to accept term. That's the point of a trade.
Hope that helps.

Then Detroit doesn't need to trade Berggren to Chicago lmao.
Hasn't proven himself is arguable. 30 points in 70 games in a diminished role seems like he's on track to be proven.
Only reason why he's not in the NHL is that Yzerman keeps making false promises to the prospects that they'll play on the team when they're ready.

Why do you laugh? I'm not attempting to force you or other DET fans to agree with me, I'm just explaining the position that the other dude seemed to scoff at. It isn't unreasonable to think a 24 year old pending RFA that can't stick in an NHL roster would be sold for a 2nd. I mean... He is about as "proven" as Kurashev was after last season, if that, and no one was paying a 1st for Kurashev. Some team might now, but a lot of teams have to realize that his production this season is benefitting heavily from playing on Bedard's wing.

Berggren is simply worth more to DET than he is to another team. Which means DET shouldn't accept the offer, and that is fine. If someone isn't willing to pay the price you set, then they should move on. But talking down to someone because they simply asked the question or aren't willing to pay the price is unnecessary.

That is a fair point. But, we can also consider the 2nd round pick to be a value base. If futures aren't what DET is interested in, that is fine, but that doesn't mean the 2nd doesn't have value. That just means we have to find a package of comparable value that helps DET now.
