Barlow won't be traded and Monahan isn't worth anywhere close to that much. A conditional 3rd should be the max Monahan returns.

I agree with you that Barlow is too much for Monahan. The Habs would do that in a heartbeat!!! But I can't see Winnipeg offering that.
I diisagree with you that Monahan (you need to factor in "centers available at trade deadline" + "cap space of player") will fetch a 3rd. Habs will re-sign him if they don't get their price.

Have i missed something with Monahan? Last time this guy was good was pre covid. I watched a lot of his games in Calgary and he was brutal. Maybe injuries were a part of that, but still he was terrible. The flames needed to send a 1st to MTL just to get them to take him and got back "future considerations". Since then he's put up 36 points in 56 games on a bad team. Is that top 6 material? sounds more like bottom 6, 2nd PP. IMO he's worth a 3rd and B prospect and GM's will cross their fingers he stays healthy
