Big Sell

Created by: BluesReport18
Team: 2023-24 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 20, 2023
Published: Dec. 20, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
These are just hypothetical trades. I don't see the Blues actually selling off at the deadline but if they really did sell off these are the type of returns I would want to see.

In all honesty if the Blues want to be a bottom 8 team all we need to do is trade Binner.

Of all the players on the Blues I think Binner and Parayko are the 2 most difficult to trade. We won't get what we want in a trade for them so it almost makes them impossible to move.
Trades
1.
STL
  1. Berggren, Jonatan
  2. Kasper, Marco
  3. 2024 1st round pick (BOS)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
For Buch I want about the value of 2 firsts and a second. Ideally the Blues would target a defensive prospect but truly what team is going to give up a defensive prospect like Edvinsson.
DET
  1. Buchnevich, Pavel ($2,900,000 retained)
2.
STL
  1. 2024 4th round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Any team looking for a veteran defender.
3.
STL
  1. Frederic, Trent
  2. Geekie, Morgan
  3. Grzelcyk, Matt
  4. Lysell, Fabian
Additional Details:
I think Boston is the perfect team for Schenn. He would slide into the 2C spot for them perfectly.

I would love to see Frederic come to St. Louis his style of play fits what we want.

Lysell moves the value over the top here and is really the only piece with some true top 6 upside.
4.
STL
  1. Johansen, Ryan
  2. 2024 5th round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
I think Colorado is just about done with Johansen. Here the Blues get out of a year of Saads contract and Colorado gets Saad who is the much better fit for their system and he was dominant with them before.
5.
STL
  1. Johnson, Erik
  2. Jost, Tyson
  3. Krebs, Peyton
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Johnson and Jost in for salary reasons. Main deal would be Krebs and a 2nd for Faulk. Buffalo needs to stop messing around and use their picks/prospects to win now.
6.
STL
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Any contender looking for some speed in their bottom 6.
DAL
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi ($1,600,000 retained)

Why not just switch Kasper or Breggren out with Wallinder?

Big nope from Detroit. Maybe another team will pay that for him but makes no sense for us at the point we are at.

Buchnevich is great, but that's too much in return imo. Bruins decline, also, can't see the Blues trading their new captain the same year they named him captain.

Don’t think the Sabres do that
Need someone who’s more physical & “defensive”
His Cap # is also big considering we just gave Power & Dahlin huge deals

Either way Detroit isn't giving up that much for Buchnevich.

Most of these teams tersely pass - and you're not even asking for the right things from Detroit anyway. As for the COL trade, the Blues are not doing Colorado any favors, let alone for free.

that value is a top 10 pick, another first, a 2nd, AND a young controlled player who put up around .5PPG as a rookie. For Buchnevich? Yeesh

Sorry but Buchnevich isn't worth the equivalent of 2 1st and 2 2nds, Other teams are giving up far less for him. No way does Detroit make this trade.
