Ottawa if they get 1st overall

Created by: Connor_McJesus_97
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 20, 2023
Published: Dec. 20, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With Chyhchrun leaving you get to move up Docker. That means he truly gets the chance now to succeed. Drafting Kiviharju also adds nice depth to the V.Tarasenko contract will run out when Macklin needs a new deal which is perfect. Amadio adds perfect depth scoring. This contract should not be possible for Vegas to match I think. If Ottawa can't win with this team or at least make the playoffs I don't know what will do it to be honest with ya

Trades
1.
OTT
  1. 2025 1st round pick (BOS)
  2. 2026 2nd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
With Kubalik resigning and with added depth in Macklin you can afford to do this
BOS
  1. Joseph, Mathieu
Additional Details:
This is a chance for the Bruins to get younger and get good depth. With Joseph having a carreer year you can sell high on him. His age and fantastic contract should make him interesting for alot of teams.
2.
OTT
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
For a 25-ish year old a 3rd is not bad. You have nice upside on Pinto
COL
  1. Pinto, Shane [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Hes not a bad dude. But I think with the addition of Macklin he becomes kinda obsolete. I think in a team like the Avs he may get a nice top 9 role and gets to compete for the cup
3.
OTT
  1. Kuraly, Sean
  2. Peeke, Andrew
  3. Provorov, Ivan ($725,000 retained)
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (CBJ)
  5. 2026 2nd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Both Peeke and Kuraly adds much needed depth to help out this Ottawa team
CBJ
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
Additional Details:
They have the capspace to add more defense and resign a guy like Chychrun. They really need this. I think Chychrun would fit in just nicely and together with Werenski he would make for a nice 1-2 punch. Their D is much better now then with Provorov. The price is not steep either. Ottawa gets to sell high on Chychrun. Chychrun signs an 8x9.5m deal here. That is what he would demand to stay in Ohio.
4.
OTT
  1. 2025 2nd round pick (ARI)
  2. 2026 2nd round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
If Arizona just misses the playoffs this could be the move to make. You add more scoring and perhaps you might wanna resign Provorov. It is time for the Yotes to start slowly pushing now. This could be the move. Two 2nd's is not expensive at all either.
ARI
  1. Provorov, Ivan
Additional Details:
He is traded immediately to a third team in this 3-way deal
5.
OTT
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Confitions of the Detroit pick

Either they draft Kiviharju with that or trade up some spots with the help of the 2nd pick here and maybe something else.
ARI
  1. 2024 1st round pick (DET)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
The initial condition on the first-round pick is as follows: the Red Wings will have the option of sending their own 2024 first-round pick or Boston's 2024 first-round pick (previously acquired on March 2, 2023) to Ottawa.

However, if the Bruins' 2024 first-round selection is an eventual top-10 pick (following the annual draft lottery), Boston will have the option of retaining the pick and transferring its 2025 unprotected first-round selection to Detroit. The Red Wings will then have the option of sending that draft pick or their own first-round pick in 2024 to the Senators to complete this trade.
6.
OTT
    Future considerations
    ANA
    1. Forsberg, Anton
    2. 2025 6th round pick (OTT)
    Additional Details:
cap dump with a player who can be a solid backup to Gibson, Dostal etc - or a good AHL tender
    7.
    OTT
    1. 2024 3rd round pick (FLA)
    Additional Details:
3rd is not expensive for this
    FLA
    1. Brännström, Erik [RFA Rights]
    Additional Details:
    Could replace OEK longterm hopefully

Columbus passes. When Chychrun curved them two years ago, they made other plans. The right side is set for the forseeable future, and two of their top four prospects are LHD who will be stepping in as soon as Provorov leaves. Also lol at the idea of Chychrun being anything close to a 9.5 million dollar defenseman, especially to a team that already has Werenski making that.

Keeping Provorov makes more sense. They can sell him at the next TDL to recoup some of what they traded to get him and then they'll have Mateychuk and/or Svozil ready to step in for the remainder of next year and beyond. Acquiring another top 4 defenseman doesn't make a whole lot of sense when they've got Werenski, Severson, Jiricek and Mateychuk around for the foreseeable future.

wasn't Mathieu a cap dump to start the year, no one wanted him for a 7th, and talks of waivers.
now he's worth a 1st and 2nd? easy pass from Boston.

Pinto for a 3rd Bs definitely do, but since it's 2025 we'd add. Ottawa turns that down though i'm sure

For a 3rd, I would trade for Pinto all day. Having Makar and a Pinto in the garage is pretty good livin. I would be happy with him in our bottom 6. I would do O.O+ for Pinto

I think you picked the wrong player. You meant someone valuable instead right?

B’s would not give you a 4th for Joseph.

    Lol

I mean Joseph has been great this year. I'd certainly give up a 4th, but 1st/2nd is obviously ridiculous

Yeah sure, why not, I like Pinto. I doubt we have that 3rd by the TDL this year, though.

He has, will he maintain it, probably not, am i willing to tie up 3m in cap space on a bottom half of the roster player to find out. Nope.
