Why would Chicago or SJ do that?

Washington should only consider that if they know they can extend Hanifin.

Sharks wouldn't consider that even if you threw in a 1st. A rebuilding team has absolutely 0 interest in a 33 year old on a huge deal until he is 38.

Nobody is going to take on Huberdeau without a serious return to take on that kind of cap hit for that contract that still has an eternity on it.

I'm really not sold Tanev will fetch a first round.

Caps deal seems possible.

Caps are more likely to spend those assets on a young high end forward rather than a rental at one of their deepest positions.

If Bettman came down the chimney and said "To get Celebrini, you have to take Huby?", do you do it? Ho ho ho

Jonathan Huberdeau isn't wasting his time on the worst team in the NHL, Huberdeau doesn't waive for Chicago.

Nazem Kadri isn't wasting his time on the 2nd worst team in the NHL, The San Jose Sharks.

Washington won't give up that much for a rental Noah Hanifin, Washington is the 2nd oldest in the league behind Pittsburgh. Don't see Hanifin signing long term there. He'll wind up going home to Boston.

Lindholm would be a rental in Florida, They can't afford him long term. It will take most of their salary cap just to re-sign both Forsling and Montour.

Chris Tanev is the only one i see as a remotely realistic trade here.

Me? No. The cap issues his contract would likely create down the road would negate any value gained from being "guaranteed Celebrini." 7 years is just too long. We are gonna have to pay all these kids eventually, and I don't want to lose any because of a bad contract getting in the way.
