The Isles have no use for Monanhan (plenty of bottom-six forwards on the roster already) and no cap space to re-sign him even if they did. A young guy who's waiver-exempt and needs a change of scenery would probably be enough to get you Wahlstrom though.

I'd sooner keep Savard than Matheson.
We have enough LHD to fill the ranks and we can balance their playing time for development until someone clinches a top 4 spot behind Guhle.
Savard can support them as a partner and take the tough assignments while other RHD are developing.

The PP needs systematic changes, but we will be better served finding who can contribute to it from the blue line long term once those changes have been made.
