You get Nylander and lose Jones. At the very worst you flip Nylander for actual good assets after TO gifted you him and took the single worst contract in hockey.

Sure, if the Hawks were actually looking to offload Jones then they make this deal. In all honesty, what do you think Nylander gets as a rental with no extension in place with the Hawks retaining half?

Still no. Hawks aren’t giving up Vlasic or a second round pick. They are rebuilding not trying to contend right now. Jones is overpaid but his contract is not harming the Hawks like everyone implies it is.

Big old no from CHI. Contrary to popular belief, CHI likes Jones. Would I prefer we had the assets we spent on him? Considering we are in a rebuild, absolutely. But, do we have any need to move him for essentially nothing? No. Especially not with Vlasic and a 2nd attached. Nylander is a pending UFA. If CHI has any interest, they will wait until the summer and see if he makes it to free agency. But, I hope KD doesn't have interest. He wants a max deal, and the next max deal CHI signs should be with Bedard in two years, not someone who will be 32 when this team is ready to contend again.
