Reportedly, Lindy wants $9.5M per which is just crazy. He's never consistently been more than a 60 or so point player but he wants to be paid like a 90 point player. Plus, he'll be almost 30 when his next deal kicks in. He's clearly already declining so he wouldn't be worth it. He might do a bit better on a team like the Avs but I bet his next deal ages poorly. Bring it down to $7M and we're talking something more realistic. Avs would have to shed Manson, too, to make it work. They don't need to spend $2.5M for a 3rd pair guy; Jones can be re-signed for cheaper and he works in that role.

He wants $9.5m. I've seen most people on here signing him for $7m-$7.5m. I split the difference.

Girard to Jones is a pretty steep drop. If they go that route, they will have to address their 3rd pair, whether that's over the summer or at the deadline.

Even if you make the 5th dman league minimum they are over the cap. Realistically the only way a Lindholm extension works if either Landy is done or they trade Lehkonen and Drouin is willing to take a $2M deal and the 3rd pairing are both on minimum deals. Then the following year you have bigger problems because Rantanen, Byram, Drouin, Malinski, LOC, Georgiev all need extensions.

The 9.5M thing is way overblown. You always aim high during negotiations and this was right around when the Aho extension happened. Calgary was offering around ~8M and Lindholm's camp was asking for 9.5M. Team and player then eventually meet around the middle and at the time of the Aho trade I think 8.75M was completely reasonable. Later on Scheifele agreed to an 8.5x7M which didn't go Lindholm's case, and then the Flames having an awful start to the season resulting in lots of players (primarily Kadri but Lindholm too) just coasting for a little while. This then resulted in line blenders where Kadri ended up with the 2 high energy rookies, Huberdeau ended up with Backlund and Coleman, and Lindholm ended up constantly rotating wingers between Mangiapane, Dube, Sharangovich, and Ruzicka.

Eventually Lindholm and Sharangovich really started to click and Huberdeau got re-promoted to the top line. Recently all 3 have played excellent

I agree. COL would be better off moving a D and Winger if they want to fill their 2C hole. They could probably swing a deal for Zegras.

Zegras is out long term with a broken ankle. I doubt he goes anywhere until the summer at the earliest.

its realistic if Landy retires, which is what I expect honestly. He'll give it his all this playoffs & then call it quits.
