Kuz's in good standing, he wants to get better, the team wants him to get better, and they both want him scoring goals. His agent, Milstein, has gone on record twice to say that Kuzmenko wants to stay and isn't unhappy being scratched, that the team is doing well. The same Milstein who raised a huge ****storm when Calgary was dragging their heals with Zadorov.

I think Giroux would be a great 2c for Vancouver, but he's signed two years at 6.5M and the Canucks can't do that and re-sign who they want to. Retention would be required on him and I don't know that Ottawa or a 3rd party team would want to do that.

If the Canucks are trading a 1st, I feel they should be doing it for a younger player with more term and preferably some cap certainty.

Vancouver would do that in that case, Kuzmenko is valued fine in the organization still Imho, think they are really trying to get him to get his game back to how it was last year while at the same time being more defensively responsible. Don't think we are willing to give up on him yet.

Seattle passes. Need the defense more than the offense right now. Borgen is playing close to light's out on the second pairing.

Why thats a pretty good trade for 1.5 years of the guy

Muzzin went for 1st + Durzi and Grundstrom with 1.5 years left and 40 points

Yea, wasn't Kuzmenko a healthy scratch a few times this year even though he had almost a point per game? Ottawa needs guys that pull their weight, not more of the same

The Sens paid a 1st (12th overall) and 2 - 2nd's (44th overall and a 2026 pick) 10 months ago. Flipping that for a late first (24th-32nd), Niemela who's not the type of defenseman the Sens are in need of and a bottom 6 forward is poor asset management.

Staios would be wise to not get absolutely fleeced by a division rival a month in.

I would argue though that what we paid for him 9 months ago is irrelevant. Would obviously like to get that kind of return back but it seems unlikely

Than you keep him and re-structure around him. Panic trades can be a disaster.

I dont think he is a fit personally, but he is way more valuable on the market than Chabot would be. Think it might make more sense to move him & try to restructure around Chabot just based on value/moveability of the 2.

So not sure its a panic trade really, just a sell off of a part that doesnt fit

Remember what they got for Debrincat

Sure they Paid A for him but that does not mean they can get A back as teams may go well hes not worth that anymore hes worth B

Basically my post above supports this to a degree

As we saw it with Debrincat already paid ABC but got BCD

Debrincat refused to re-sign and short-listed us a few teams. Chychrun likes Ottawa, this needs to be considered as well.
