Winnipeg should not be adding a 2nd to downgrade twice. They're a top team in the league right now, there's no need to add castoffs from one of the worst teams at an exorbitant price.

ok. I dont want to be flippant, but please understand Habs already have 8 dmen, with others coming through.
Savard wont be traded for a younger dman.
Jupari and Stanley have no value to the Habs (but stanley would be good elsewhere).
Monahan is getting a first round pick hands down

Monahan is a 3c being paid 2M a year.
He's the best piece in this deal.
Who's downgrading exactly?
Sure keep Stanley, we'll trade Savard elsewhere.
Keep kupari too, give up your 1st rder, not your 2d

On Montreal Monahan might be a 3C, but Namestnikov, Scheifele and Lowry are all far better than Monahan. At best Monahan competes for a 4th line spot, but he's terrible defensively, so isn't well suited for a bottom 6 roll. Keep him. Zero interest.

The Jets have 6 defenseman better than Savard now and another one that's better on IR. Zero interest.

I think both would be fantastic adds for Winnipeg and they’d be interested. Thing is, they only have 1 retention spot and they’d get more by trading them separately as Kupari and Stanley both hold no value.

Oh my god this sucks for WPG
No interest in either player and neither does anything worthwhile for the Jets
This would be a fail on Chevys part

Come on dude, you might not like the trade but Monahan is much better then Namesnikov. Namesnikov is having one of career high pace year, can’t win faceoff, doesn’t play defense at all ( ratio of 63% of offensive start) and have a hundred less goal in approximately the same amount of game played in the NhL. Don’t say stupid thing. Lowry is a great defensive center who is also on career high season. Different players for different role. I like Lowry a lot. Bit Namesnikov come on dude, you know better then that.

Unless Winnipeg has injuries, Monahan is not needed. Both Mtl and Wpg fans should stop trading him to Wpg.

Well the stats don't lie. I know you want Monahan to be better, but he's simply not. Saying he is, is just being ignorant of facts. No one cares if Monahan was good at one point in his career. The Jets aren't trading for Monahan 7 or 8 years ago, they're trading for him now. Only what Monahan currently is matters and that's a low end 4C.

Namestnikov scores at the same rate as Monahan except Namestnikov does is at even strength instead of being totally reliant on PP time like Monahan. PP time that Monahan won't get on a good team.

Namestnikov is better ES, PK, better defensively, a better skater, faster, everything outside of face offs Namestnikov is better.

So while you want Monahan to be better it isn't supported by any objective evaluations or stats. Saying otherwise is just denying factual reality on basing it on your biased emotions.

You just can't help yourself from your heavy biases. Monahan has 8 even strength points, comparable to a low end 3rd line player, playing first line minutes. So when he plays 10 minutes a game on a good team, he'll struggle to get even those 8 points making him a 4th liner.

Remember he's not getting PP1 time on a playoff team. No PP time for Monahan, means no points.

Just once in your life, try to look at something with objectivity and evaluate players on a level playing field and you won't come off sounding so ignorant.

Biased emotion ahahahshshsh you are the one who is acting like a 8 years old little spoil brat. There a reason why Namesnikov for 7 teams. He is just a replaceable guy’s because he is easily replaceable. Namesnikov had the luxury of playing with high end players for most of the season, players such as Vilardi, Perfetti, Ehlers, Connor and Scheifele.
Monahan had as winger Gallagher who can’t skate no more, Anderson who took 30 games to score a goal, Jake Evans, Ylonen, Armia and Pearson who might be the beat of the lot. So cut the crap up, Monahan would have 30+ point centering a line with Perfetti and Ehlers.

So mister Emotion, next time you try to be a smart ass just make sure you put the fact right.

Having a grand total of 5 goals while being surrounded by such talent is hilarious, trying to justify that Namesnikov is a better player without analyzing the environment that the players is in is just showing that you don’t watch hockey game other then your Jets.

LMAO, Monahan doesn't get 1st line minutes those are reserved for Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky. Monahan is on the PP because his skill level permits him to be used there. Jets would also use him on the PP and love to have him there. If Monahan started the season on the Jets he would be their 2C, having 2 of Connor, Perfetti, Ehlers or Vilardi on his wings would increase his scoring (both at 5vs5 and on the PP) to between .75 and 1.0 ppg. Everyone on this site knows you hate Montreal and all our players and that you are the real biased emo freak here, don't worry your title is still safe by a long shot

Exactly. Don't use your emotions try and watch someone outside of Montreal play. Namestnikov is unquestionably better in almostevery single way.

The Jets are a good team, they don't need to add bad players from one of the NHL'S worst teams.

So you just choose to remain ignorant and can't base evaluations objectively on facts.

Monahan plays over 18 minutes a night. First line minutes. Namestnikov plays 3 minutes a game less and has more even strength points in less games than Monahan.

Monahan couldn't play in Bowness' system, he's a bad skater, slow, not physical, poor defensively and bad at even strength.

So explain if Monahan is this great 2C, how does he only have 8 ES points?

Montreal only has one 2C and that's Suzuki.

Yes, everyone that doesn't agree with your biased evaluations hates Montreal. That must mean everyone, because no one, outside of Montreal fans, agree with you.

Winnipeg's TDL deals were getting Namestnikov and Neiderrieter last year. Namestnikov's play was one of the reasons the Jets made the playoffs. I don't think the Jets would of made the playoffs without him. This year he took his play to the next level and has helped the Jets to the top of the league right now. He fits in the style the Jets play right now. Monahan is not an improvement over Namestnikov right now. The Jets won't keep the pace they are playing right now but Namestnikov will continue to bring it. If injuries happen then the Jets will have to either put Vilardi or Perfetti at center or make a trade but I can't see our GM giving up a 1st for Monahan.

And the Habs have no reason to trade Monahan for anything less than a 1st so there we are! The trade deadline you always overpay as teams aren't banking on some unproven late 1st that might not even make the nhl or even become a staple in your teams window. Monahan will be traded and he is certainly more valuable to a contender than a late 1st. Since when dont late 1sts get flipped? Whos better than Monahan at his price tag of under 1m AAV with retention? If you cant answer those questions then it's simple, he is very valuable on the market whether to the Jets or the 30 other teams that can bid.

The point is that Monahan isn't better than our top 3 centers right now. Why give up a 1st or really anything for him?

7 teams in 11 years says otherwise
Average of 10minutes of Icetime in the Playoffs with 13 pts in 53 games with a 47% win rate in the faceoff circle
Overall when the going gets tough Namestenkovs a no show on 7 teams including in Draft team who dumped him to immediately win a Cup

I agree with the other 2 hands down you're right
But i call Bs on Namestenkov
Monahan doesnt have the same hang ups with 10 goals 21 points in 30 playoff games with a 50% win rate playing 19 minutes
But play him 4th line if you want , come playoffs it'll be him not namestenkov who's logging minutes as a 3rd C
