As much as i agree its a fair value for both sides, monty is whats gonna help mtl be competitive next year. If hes gone we will have vaneck, primeau, allen.😬😬
Also when mtl has a quebecois who is good you have to keep him

Holtz price is somewhere between Dach and Newhook.

1st+2nd+a touch

Montembault = 2nd+a touch

Lol holtz is not between dach and newhook.

Both dach and newhook can play centre they are easily more valuable than a pure winger with horrible analytics.

Neither were effective centers.

Both were also not nearly as productive as holtz has been this year.

Neither had 1.5 years of ELC left.

Holtz scores at a rate identical to David Pastrnak playing alongside 4th liners and AHLers. Dach at the time of the trade couldn’t produce alongside Patrick Kane and Alex debrincat

Holtz is currently sitting at a 32points /82 game pace on his career.

Holtz has a career 82 game pace of 32 points. Newhook at point of trade had 34 and dach had 32 while playing through a pretty major hand injury.

Dach has been a excellent C and newhook can play the position something holtz cant.

Holtz is easily the least valuable of the 3

So Pezzetta is better than hischer because pezz has a higher scoring rate than nico does this year 5 on 5

Dach in his “breakout” had 18 points 5v5

Holtz has 19 already playing on the 4th line at 21 years old

Holtz needs -2 goals and 0 points in his next 30 games to match Dachs pre trade year.

Or 2 goals and 9 points in his next 42 to match newhook.

And has this year and next year on ELC

Pezz has 1 goal 5v5.

if Pezz was a top pedigree prospect and not a 26 year old AHL/NHL tweener he’d get the benefit of the doubt

Must be a major fall from grace for dawson mercer if hes the 4c because thats holtz most common linemate this year.

And you also arent comparing apples to apples.

Dach was traded 2 years ago and is only 1 year younger so the ACTUAL comparison is

26 points in 70 games for dach vs 4 in 19 for holtz (less than 15 per 70) and not good enough to be in the nhl full time.

Or

38 points in 58 games for dach vs 20 in 40 for holtz.

Dach wipes the floor with him its not close

Maybe if he was better he would produce on the pp and be closer to that 38 points.

Unfortunately the devils PP has all of Jesper Bratt Jack Hughes Luke Hughes Timo Meier Tyler Toffoli Ondrej Palat Dougie Hamilton and Dawson Mercer to choose from for PP minutes.

Not like Montreal where you just have to beat out Josh Anderson.

TBH no
The whole things been a **** show
If you want an Allan swap for your always injured Goalie who constantly craps the bed, sure
But outside that i see no trades that work between out 2 teams unless McCleod's in Play

Monty to MTL is Jose Theodore , Allen was Thibault
We're not sure if Dobes is Huet or Halk but we're hoping Fowler is our Price Replacement.
Each time we lose a Plante, Dryden , Roy or Price it takes a decade roughly for an Heir to Rise.

You might not consider Monty important as im sure you write off Theodore too
But that Vezina was part of the Culture Change by New Management that gave Fans hope for the first time since 1996-97 basically.

It’s a fact. Montreal is giving Sean Monahan and Josh Anderson 4 minutes a night on the PP. It’s not tough competition out there. The wing/shooter positions that Alex Holtz would be competing for on the devils PP are currently occupied by Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt

To Be Fair , He isnt Wrong
Caufield , Suzuki and Dach are the only consistent PP threat not named Monahan

We have Roy soon to be ready to join as a PP solution
But outside that all our PP power is on the back end with Matheson, Guhle, Hutson and Barron among others.
A Dylan Holloway type might work in place of acquiring an elite PP talent.
He helped get the most out of Caufield and was a Great linemate for him as he Cycled Pucks at that level better then Armia

We're in a weird spot
Good news is Slafkovsky's making great strides
We got a good draft pick in a draft where Eiserman might fall into our laps.
Tuch might be the Answer with his Chemistry with boy the Hughes Brothers as the guy who racked up the most points in the Hughes Brothers Hat Trick Games in October
He's just got so much chemistry with both brothers that signing them both putting them in Laval to develop could pay off as a cheap long term solution

Or we could go blow our wad chasing said players

I don’t know what else would be used in that scenario, I was just suggesting trying a deal without those two.

Maybe Dobes would be Garon or (Devils legend) Yann Denis. Maybe Allan is Halak…insofar both tied to trades with St Louis? (It’s a stretch). Or maybe Jeff Hackett?

(I’d give a kidney for Fowler though)

Fowler is Rare
While i like a lot of Goalies to Varying degrees
Fowler stands out to me for the same reasons Price did.

I not saying i didnt like many Goalies in between
Whether is Abesicher in Montoya or Hacket in Niemi or any amount of random goalies in correlation
The timeline for the Undisputed starter over 4 decades almost was groomed and developed in MTL after their Junior or NCAA stints
I think Fowler is Special and will be closer to a Lundqvist then Price
He seems like someone who will develop the leagues best back up goalies for decade+
While Price was more of a 1 man show with rotating cast that didnt define his play at all.

So Pumped for this kid though
In a Perfect World MTL makes Price a Goalie Coach like his dad was , after his contracts up.
It would maximize the Potential of him and wanna be pop star Miller (who feels like Bernier 2.0)
